In my 35 or so years in this hobby of ours I have found that Scandinavian record labels like Proprius, Bis, and ODIN are generally reliable for excellent sound. Not just sound but believable settings, .......

May I recommend JELCO for a pivoted arm. I use a 10 incher. The importer is in Canada and a fine fellow he is. He replaced some hex head set screws I had stripped from over twisting at no charge. Jelc .......

I gather that John is using a low output moving coil cartridge like myself. You don't need a phono pre with 60dB gain for your Grado. But, if you like what you hear from vinyl*, you very well may down .......

I had Fulton IC's, too. I felt their speaker cables were more than I needed or could afford. Had very short runs of Kimber 8TC's between my mono amps and some Acoustat Three's that had replaced DQ10's .......

I have active speakers so there are no speaker cables, just a coaxial interconnect. Years ago I bought some ferrite clamps that I placed around the incoming end of the IC's I had at the time at the sp .......

That you have to place your speakers in the end of the room with the low ceiling is not a downer. You'll have the benefit of room loading where you wouldn't have otherwise. This should warm up your so .......

The tenor of this discussion has certainly changed since the first few responders. I don't think the magazine's history or editor and friends rang much of a bell with them judging from their replies. .......

Dahlquist may have already been mentioned (just skimmed thru) and deserves an honorable mention as he was the first designer (I think) to take drivers out of the box and stagger them so their voice co .......

I've only heard Brotzman play one way, peddle to the mettle. Not that I've heard a lot of him, both were with Last Exit. Hard to tell what instrument he was playing, really. .......

One of GG's albums that I return to is Matador. No horns are present. A quartet with McCoy Tyner. The two long tracks, one of which all will be familiar with, just do it for me real nice. .......

I'm goin with Joe Henderson on #4, also. That beautiful tone is late Henderson that I recognize from So Near, So Far on Verve in '93. Nice cut, right or wrong. Lloyd is a good guess on tone but I don' .......
