Yes, it has to be a broken wire inside the cartridge. This one has a lot of hours on it, and while it may not require a complete rebuild, what the hell, get it over with. Thanks for the link though, g .......

I have used the supplied gauge, the Geodisk, and the Technics Baerwald from Vinylengine. The gauge is pretty worthless, while it will give you overhang, you still need to use the Geodisk for alignment .......

I had several mats laying around and settled on a Herbbies 2mm one on the bottom with an Aniversary Ringmat at 3mm on top. The stock rubber mat is 5mm so this combo keeps the VTA the same and I notice .......

Thanks for the clarification. So upping the VTF on the 17D2 I'm using and lowering the AS should result in better tracking. I'll give it a try... .......

Michael, no I haven't swapped the output tubes. I'm guessing they are the 4 directly in front of the 2 smaller trannys. I'll get some DeoxIT and clean all the sockets up and try swapping them around. .......

I own both, and either one is a good choice. The cambridge has more gain and MC capability as well. I'm using this one with an AT 440MLa and its a really good combo for the money. The Bellari I use f .......

I use a Herbbie's Way Excellent mat on my P-5, and it sounds better than the stock felt mat. I also use a Clearaudio Clever clamp, as the spindle on the Rega's is too short for most clamps. Its inexpe .......

Sparky, you are correct, both the Bellari and the Hagerman need a HO MM or MC cartridge. Originally I used a HO MC, Goldring Erotica at 2.5Mv, but I went to a Rega Exact at 7Mv and got better results. .......

you will need to choose your cartridge carefully, as these have a low gain, 30 dB. With the right cart, the Bellari is a bargain. .......

A 61" CRT rear projection in a dedicated room. A huge, heavy box, that does HD better than the panels, IMHO. I suspect that the flat panels sell so well as they are easier to get past the wife. ::: TO .......

Tom, I bought the P5 used on Audiogon complete with a Rega Exact cartridge and was not overly impressed. When the cart was replaced with the Dynavcector and the Creek phono amp replaced with the Ear, .......

My listening preferences are the same as your's and the P5 works very well. The Rega combined with a DV D172, through an Ear 834P, really shines with classic rock and all vocals, especially vocal harm .......

I own both, starting from the MMF-7, going to the P-5. The Rega has a much better tonearm. As I moved from lower to higher quality on the cartridge upgrades, the arm was a limiting factor for the Musi .......
