In the late 70s and early 80s, Bruce also made some great Zinfandels, in my opinion, but my palate wasn't yet that sophisticated. Still may not be, but I do enjoy them still. .......

Shame. 20 years is as nothing for such a great wine, but it does need to be kept at constant temp and constant humidity to preserve it. It is a living thing, after all. Mine turned out better than exp .......

Being retired, I can no longer avoid to even think of purchasing wines like the one I picked out of my wine cellar today. Sigh .. 1982 Ch. Latour. Many reviewers gave it a 100. I've had it for 30 odd .......

I have RCA Cleartops in 12AU7 tubes and in 6CG7 (6FQ7) tubes. In my tube devices, the cleartops sound the best or close to it in each case. Does anyone know if RCA made any other tubes as "cleartops"? .......

Thanks for the reply, Bent. I would have hoped that the SST should be good for 4 ohm and below. Usually if an amp has that much available power specified at 4 phms, it is usually good for lower resist .......

The closest I've come to the 12AX7-LPS is a 12AX7-WXT. 12AX7s in general have had too much gain for this amp and my system. The best matches so far were a TungSol 12AT7, RCA CLeartop 12AU7 and the GE .......

Maple and most other woods will warp if the piece was not dried thoroughly and properly. There is a minimum water content for each type of wood; not sure what it is for maple. Also even properly dried .......

Paypal has its advantages and disadvantges. Basically it protects the seller. He/she gets their money immediately. Does nothing for the buyer. Plus now there's a fee for sellers: about 3%. Amazing how .......

Steve, I had an AI mod 3A a while back. I'm pretty sure it takes 6922 tubes and not many tubes can stand the stress AI's circuitry put son tubes. That's why they use Sovteks. I think Andy from Vintage .......

I have had Vandersteen 3As since Jan 1995 and have tried many cables. AP and Vandys are both on the Yin/warmer side of neutral. Together, they might place the overall spectrum of sonics a tad too far .......

I am kind of surprised about your saying they mate well, given the low input impedance of the Stratos (about 20 K) and the very high output impedance of the AI (about 1600 ohms). My friend has a Strat .......

Mine didn't either. No big deal. Clamp one half of the post of the "U" in a vice and use a small file to reduce the size and widen the opening. Use gentle pressure and be insistent. Ittakes a while, b .......
