FWIW, I've done a bit of comparison between 1" Altec, Emilar and Renkus Heinz compression drivers and diaphragms. Personally, I love the old 20275 Altec aluminum diaphragm with aluminized voice coil .......

Yes, the DL102 comes with a .7 mil tip. I don't think 1 mil is available. There is a DL102SD for 78 rpm but I don't know the exact stylus size (2.5 mil perhaps?). I've been searching for a 350/370 aft .......

I tried all kinds of strapping [parallel and series] for the Grado GT and Stanton 500 they work but IMHO the mono GE VR is the best sound I got so far. The GE VR needs a high mass arm like a ROK or vi .......

I don't think it is possible, it is the circuit topology that makes it more vulnerable. Kinda' similar to amps that employ negative feedback are quieter than those without. JE .......

It can also be a cartridge, phono preamp or interface issue. Something as drastic as you describe can't be caused by the turntable. Borrow a known preamp or cartridge for reference. Anyway good luck w .......

I just reassembled it yesterday and my initial impression is a very slight improvement overall, less congestion which I attribute to the added mass due to the larger area. But the Birch/Fir does seem .......

JD, If I may add, I was in denial when I was tweaking the highly modified Merrill/AR because it had more high-end credibility than my back-up $1 estate auction TD124 which didn't have the wow problem, .......

IIRC, I paid the same price 7 years ago and this is supposed to be the best quality BB ply they have in stock, lower quality same price, not bad. Honestly I don't think it made a difference in the sou .......

You guys are definitely right, this material is inferior to the smaller plinth I replaced. Too late, I don't want to do it all over again. They used to sell me good stuff which I used for my OB, 614 c .......

Yes wood filler is my best friend, as well as a plane and sander to smooth out the sides. The boards are cut to size at the lumber yard and then I choose the best face for the top plate which I handle .......

My lumber yard sold it to me as baltic birch, the faces are birch but I did wonder while finishing it why the sides looked like the fir plywood I used in the ROK L-34 project I posted below.... ::: TO .......

The super tweeter is hinged at a very high frequency using a paper in oil cap about .5-.75 uf with a variable L-pad so that it matches the efficiency of the main horn, the effect is very subtle additi .......

The 5/16" is from an L-34 Jr., but on my B12H sample it is 1/4". Hard to say what or which is the original since these bearings tend to fall out and get lost. .......

Hi Jim, If your DVD player has built-in DTS/Dolby 5.1 decoder and your SE amps all have input level controls, you can drive the amps from the output jacks of the decoder. Connect the main L and R amps .......
