I have an original Korneff 45 and have tried both ST and Globe shaped vintage RCA tubes in it. While they sounded really good something I could easily live with, the EML Solid Plates are just better i .......

What I did to my MX5050 BII was direct wired out to the Model 222 tape pre, then I added a Flux Magnetics head!!! It is right there neck to neck with my Studer A810 that has been completely rebuilt an .......

If you end up with an Otari deck get it gone through by a pro and your all set for years of pleasure. Otari decks don't need alot of fiddling once they have been gone through, much less to worry about .......

You should try changing the output tubes in the Rogue, the two tubes on the far right side are the ones that make the biggest difference... .......

Yes I use a special adapter made for going from the 6SN7 to the 6F8G's and another adapter going from 6SN7 to 6J5GT's. .......

It's not that they display microphonics not as much as when I first put them in, it's that you have to go through alot of them to find a nice quad. Once they are in there for a while they tend to get .......

I am using a Rogue Audio 99 Magnum pre amp I have tried alot of 6SN7 tubes then I tried the 6F8G tubes I like them. I am now using the 6J5GT tubes and I like them it's just hard to find a quad that is .......

The DSP I am using is a pro audio tool also, it has slopes from 12db to 48db choose what you like... I am using 24db and 12 db in my system... .......

Well I had an A810 untill UPS destroyed it a couple years ago. It has taken me almost two years to get over that loss, meanwhile I used my Otari 5050 without regret it has been flawless for almost ele .......

Nice Tim, I am using the old FM 6 antenna. Where I live it is all flat as a board, so stations are easy to pull in. My Kenwood tuna pulls in stations from 60 and 90 miles on a regular basis weather pe .......

I have the same FM 6 on my roof with a rotor, it works great and I can pickup stations as far away as 90 miles on my Kenwood tuner... .......

I am using my old FM 6 mounted on the roof with a rotor, I can pull in stations over 90 miles away at times. I regularly listen to a station about 60 miles away... .......

The first one I had was the Bottlehead Seduction then the Bottlehead Tube Repro. Currently the De Havilland 222 and that would be the one I get if I buy another!!! .......

The only thing I would suggest is to measure the speakers from 1 meter to see what they are doing, then measure from the listening position to see what the room is doing to the sound. .......

Greg at Volti Audio would probably build you speakers anyway you want them, I know Greg he is a good guy and does excellent work with wood. He is on the pricey side of things though but, you get what .......

It does make the belt slip some, I am more afraid of it messing up the anodize finish on the platter... .......

Update: So I had the machine shop make another pulley from SS and wouldn't ya know it , it is also leaving a residue. So now it is either the belt itself or something the shop used on the material I g .......

For what it's worth I alway give the platter a lil help starting off, that is not where the problem is at all. There is a yellowish residue on the platter and belt coming from the new brass pulley I h .......

I recently had a machine shop make a Brass pulley for me to try, it is working great but; I am seeing some yellowish dust which I assume is brass. Is this normal? I don't have much knowledge of Brass .......

Sorry about the late reply, no it has no markings also it has no feedback to the controller for correcting. The only way to adjust the speed is by the belt tension which is not the correct way, the ot .......

Well according to Peter Clark it is perfectly fine leaving it plugged in all the time. Now that you mentioned this I will try unplugging it just to see if it makes a difference... .......

You may be correct I don't know, the motor I am using is the Maxon 110178. I spoke to one of the Maxon Engineers today and he said for sure I could expect drift with an open loop circuit that doesn't .......

I measured the voltage directly from the battery the other day at 13.48 volts. it is always plugged into the wall wart which is always plugged into the wall. .......

Well I don't know the motor is running at the correct voltage and seems to be happy, the temps in that room are always the same 70*-74* degrees and the humidity is constant. .......

Ok Tim redirected the antenna to it's correct position using the map instead of a compass app, which was way off. Much better now, the college station has the needle buried and is clean and clear... : .......

Ok checked the ground it is connected, installed a splitter and that has made it a lot better. Just getting a small amount of static on the low powered station, I think it's Multipath when I switch to .......

Hi Tim, In fact I did just that today, what I found was with the antenna connected I was getting a fair of amount of static today. The meter was almost completely over, it was sitting past 8 and into .......

Ok I am confused, if the outer wall is the right channel and no AS is being used wouldn't the arm drift to the inner wall freely??? How would that cause distortion if the stylus is away from the outer .......

Yes those adapters are on eBay right now but,they take up space hence the reason for needing a single tube adapter. My amp use one half of the 6sn7. .......

I have tried just about every 6sn7 out except a few hard to find ones. In the end the 6f8g beat out all of my 6sn7 tubes. Now it has been brought to me that the 6j5g are even better that the 6f8g tube .......

Well I will not disagree with you but, I am using an adapter and a 6f8g tube in place of the 6sn7 with awesome results. So in this instance it improves the sound vs degradation. .......

True it is on the warm side here in New Orleans especially now this time of year. On a side note we tend to keep the house cool in the 70's for the most part, so I am not sure how much if any the outs .......

I am using the KAB disc and strobe... I set my SDS unit a long time ago using the platter app and test record at 3150 hz, the sds has never been changed and the strobe and disc say it's dead on.. ::: .......

Let me clear the air some, yes I am using a different tweeter that's why the huge difference in the two plots. As for alignment I used RTA with the polarity fliped on the tweeter to create a null or p .......

Are you kidding??? Did you look at the two graphs??? There was a huge difference in sound quality, everything got cleared up. The soundstage opened up quite a bit and the highs are much more pronounce .......

This is where I ended up with the new tweeters. The red trace is the original tweeter not aligned, the darker trace is the fostex tweeters vertically aligned with the mid drivers. .......

The jig didn't cause the damage I did that, the jig just isn't as accurate as the Mint is that's all. .......

Ok I got my Mint Tractor and my Dyna 20x back from repair, installed the 20x and all I can say is WOW!!! What a difference in sound quality this tractor made!!! There is a huge difference in bass and .......

What do you mean by better sound with the classic platter? Also the VTA on the fly how much easier could it be? I have a Ginko Cloud and an Arcici Rack so vibes and isolation are no worries!!! ::: TOP .......

I have a Studer A810 mated to a Dehavilland 222 tubed tape pre, and a Otari MX5050 BII mated to a Bottlehead tubed Repro. Both sound really good to me, you just have to get the right tubes in them... .......

I would say that all tube amps have some hum, weather or not you can hear it from the listening position would be the decideing factor if it is too much hum. My speakers are 106db and I use a Korneff .......

Hey Mikeyb, I use the EML 45 solid plates in my Korneff 45 without any issues and excellent results, I have tried the vintage 45's but, the EML 45's are just better in every aspect. .......

Hi David, Yes the ALK's are made well and do a good job but, I am thinking that the sound can be improved by going active. My plan is to use a SS amp on the lows and a 45 tube amp on the mid and highs .......

Yes the Seduction works great as a tape pre, the problem is gain. It just doesn't have enough gain unless you are listening at really low levels and or in a small room. I tried it because like you the .......

As far as an amp and speakers for 6K, I would look at the 45type amps with a very efficent speaker, you almost can't go wrong with this combo; plus 6K should get you a really really nice setup!!! ::: .......

Well depending on what you are going to use it for!!! Joel is right for the most part, I had two B77's in the past I now have a highly modded Otari 5050 BII and a Studer A810. The B77 is a good solid .......

Well according to BMS their 2" driver is 118db, that's how. I don't know if they are truly that efficent but, they are alot more efficent than the 104db one they replaced!!! .......

Hi Kurt yes I do have conner horns but, they are not your every day type. They started out as Klipsch Khorns they now have 2" wooden tractrix mid horns and BMS 2" mid drivers. The only thing that is s .......

It is fairly straight forward, read the instructions you should be fine. There are alot of people on the forums to help if you run into trouble. .......

I am trying to remember about setting up the anti-skate on my Scoutmaster, I have the one with the rubber groumets. Is it more or less anti-skate applied when the string is all the way on the outside .......

Now DATS what I'm talking about!!! This is the second copy that skips in the exact same spots as the first. Strangly enough the second copy plays on my vintage TT!!!??? .......

No I am not pulling anyones legs!!! Hence the subject title, this record will not play without skiping on my VPI; and every other LP in the house plays just fine on it. It will however play just fine .......

I bought a new LP the other day cleaned it went to play it, and it skiped right away!!! Brought it back for an exchange tried the second one, same damm thing!!! Strange I tried on my second TT plays f .......
