Truth that, E! Analog output stage and power supply contribute so much to DAC performance. I just got my 205 back from Dan at ModWright and added the OppoMod linear PSU. It's a different animal now. : .......

I have two such tubes, one an f31 fat base without guide pin center hole, the other an f32 with "4 notch" serrated plates. Both were tested on a well calibrated TV-7 D/U machine. Nominal new is 60/60. .......

5687 tubes tend to be microphonic. I found Sylvania 5687s to have the least tendency toward microphony. In a power amp this may not be an issue. In my preamp it absolutely was. .......

I've been fortunate to squirrel away a few pairs of the TS ribbed plate 5687s over the years. They are very nice, but the 1960s JAN Sylvanias are also a beautiful sounding tube - and can still be had .......

Are there separate channel fuses, even inside the case (be careful inside there)? I've shorted a preamp voltage regulator by not waitng an hour or so for caps to fully discharge before replacing tubes .......

Depending on money saved (versus MK3), the MK2.3 with V-cap upgrade may be the best bang for the buck. I personally prefer the look and manual biasing of the MK2. My amps are fully tricked MK2.3s, ess .......

Because properly integrating a subwoofer into a monitor system used for high quality 2 channel audio is FAR more important than reflexively going for 5 extra Hz. Subwoofer integration in this setting .......

I've not heard the BC-24, but have used the BC-28 since November. It is a very musical amp, but exceptionally transparent. I've found this quality allows for tailoring your overall system character, p .......
