They are 64" from the wall behind them to the woofer face. Pointing them at me, does compress the sound stage b/c they are only 64" apart. They are 40" from the side walls, not counting the bookcases. .......

I sort of agree with Rich. What I am saying is not that there is any imaging, but the images appear to be less precise with respect to live music, even when we sit "relatively" close, than many audiop .......

I moved from Spectral separates to the Ayre Ax-7 (not e) with absolutely NO regrets. I am using a Running Springs Audio Power Conditioner, which uses Cardas internal wiring and several Cardas parts . .......

My room is 12 feet wide. Speakers are about 5.5 feet apart and I sit a similar distance from the speakers. They are 64" into the room, measured from the woofer. This is more or less the Cardas Method. .......

Thanks for your concern. The original felt mat, according to Rega's USA distributor was 1.9mm. The Grugebuster mat is 2.0 mm. Hardly a difference to worry over. Jay .......

I think they are using Furutech plugs and IEC's and perhaps lead free solder. Has anybody noticed any sonic differences? They appear to take longer to break-in and certainly grip much tighter. TIA, Ja .......

I would recommend saving up for a NEW CX-7. I had the Linn Ikemi on loan and used it in the balanced mode. It was good, but the CX-7 is magical with the AX-7, assuming Cardas cable and Cardas PC's. Ja .......

Ayre+Cardas+Thiel is a wonderful combo.. I am using the Ayre AX=7 Integrated with the Thiel CS1.6 and it is magical. To the degree their is a family resemblence, you might want to audition your Thiels .......

Because of room layout and rooim furnishing, the left speaker needs to be further from the side-wall than the right speaker, if I am to achieve anything like 7 feet of separation between my SF signums .......

The signums are discontinued and can be found used/demo. They are rear ported speakers but with very overdamped( meaning the bass frequencies have far less prominance than other speakers) In fact so m .......

Nolel: I second the recommendation for speakers with over-damped bass. I had the Dynaudio Contour 1.8's and try as I might, I could not eliminate the room boom. Raising the speaker stand height will/m .......

They are speakers that thrive on free space placement in my opinion. How near to the wall, to some degree depends on the construction materials of your room and its ability/inability to release bass. .......

But they were place MUCH further into the room than the Signums. And they also: 1) Either overloaded the room with bass 2) Had tonal balance issues 3) Did not engage me in the music in the same way. T .......

My room is rather narrow. Try as I might, the imaging is not that great, particularly beyond the speakers. However, they do engage me in the music like nothing else I have heard. If only I can give up .......

Measured from the back of the speaker. I have found that this effects mid-bass significantly. Also increases midrange presence which may/may not be a good thing. Jay .......
