Let me add my vote for Sota. I had a Sapphire for a number of years and three years ago upgraded to a Cosmos(IV). The arm is a Triplanar and the cartridge is a ZYX Universe, phono amp is a Sutherland .......

As the other posts indicate, this is a function of the cartridge and other elements in the chain. But with my cart (ZYX Universe), attached to a Sutherland PhD, I found 200 Ohms to be optimal. 1K kill .......

Can't recommend the Plinius 9200 enough. 200wpc. Mine replaced a 10K ARC/Levinson separates combo and smoked it. Sometimes on Audiogon in the price range you mention. .......

I agree with wet cleaning only once, but on all records. New ones will have mold release residue from the stamper. May not make it noisy, but sound will usually improve after a good wet cleaning. ::: .......

There seems to be some disagreement on speaker wire length. Some say the shorter, the better (ie monoblocks behind speaker) and others, like Pierre at Mapleshade claim that anything under 8' sounds ba .......

I have a Plinius 9200 driving Dunlavy Cantatas. Replaced an ARC LS25B and a Levinson 330 and in my opinion, smoked that combination in all dimensions--detail, soundstage, etc. And plenty of power. Onl .......

With my 16.5, I used to use RRL, but Tom Port convinced me to try Disc Doctor with 2 vacuum wands. This gets very subjective, but I think I like DD better--less surface noise, etc. Not a one step meth .......

I am "in my 60's" and have a high end audio system (analog and digital sources) with Dunlavy floorstanders. And, the menu on my LCD TV is no problem. Braindead is braindead, regardless of age... ::: T .......

Gruv Glide makes a significant difference in the sound of your vinyl. And if you perceive that that difference is negative, it will wash out with record cleaner. Very much worth a try--I have a ZYX Un .......

Try Tom Port at www.dccblowout.com He has lots of opinions on LPs that sound good and those that don't--worth reading. His LPs will be on the expensive side, but the ones I have bought from him match .......
