Hello. I'd very much appreciate a recommendation of firewire external hard drive, as well as a USB hard drive. I'll be using these as storage HD tethered to my PC. Near-silent, fast operation would be .......

La Platine Verdier should be on that list for pioneering magnetic suspension, which is heavily adopted by the fancy pants audio manufacturers, more than 30 yrs after Verdier. Not to mention that it's .......

Soundsmith's Silver & Gold versions based on 103 models are expensive, considering their provenance... but to my ears, they sound much more authoritatively musical than many carts that are in the $5K .......

I tried the Super HL5s with Plinius 8150 (150 wpc) and the combo was fabulous. Elsewhere in this forum (a long time ago), John Marks of Stereophile sang praises of this combo, and rightly so. ::: TOPI .......

Used to own Super HL5s. They have the midbass bloat... if you are into hard and tight bass response, these aren't the speakers to impress. However, they do something special with classical music, even .......

Yeah, it's definitely a preference thing. I know a few of my friends who dig the experience, some, not so much. I'd used Platine Verdier previously with some choice headphones... and I'm pretty anal a .......

I just can't do vinyl + headphones, picks up too much surface noise which I find distracting with headphones. .......

Haven't tried Sound Anchors, but used Skylans when I had Super HL5s... loaded with kitty litter. No complaints or ringing issues. .......

Musical Affairs Grand Crescendo with the PHY drivers were very impressive. Great midrange and effortless highs. Or go vintage: RCA LC1As or German fullrange drivers, maybe. .......
