Try bottlehead.com They sell great kits a 2a3/ 45 kit. A 300b and a el84 kit well thought out excellent direction and a great help forum. Even if you don't buy a kit join the forum plenty to be learne .......

I am for the Bottlehead products-I have 2 Stereomours 1 a 45 the other a 2a3 and also Bottlehead 45 design amp --all are parafeed . I highly recommend their products. They have great instructions for .......

They most certainly do!!!!--they made me a dynaco fm-3 trannie ,a scott 299 power transformer-a pair of plate chokes foe a 45 tube amp-and something else that i cannot recall at the moment--the prices .......

interesting outcome-45 tube amp -no load no tubes in place yet-on channel a at b+ i have 445v-channel b i have a fluctuating negative reading at b+ but at b- on channel b i have negative 445-i sort of .......

charles-the box itself needs to be plywood-what i have done is laminate solid wood to 1/2" apple ply- i planed the wood down to 5/8"-total 1 1/8"-i used 5/4 for the front baffle and painted the inside .......

for anyone interested--mike got back to me-and the answer is!!!!--the blue goes to the plate -red goes to ac ground and the black on the secondary is the ground .......

several months ago i purchased a pair of lundahl 1670 grid chokes-i am finally getting around to using them in my first scratch build which is a 45 tube amp-the pin-out on the choke i am not sure of - .......

i just bought a transformer for my 299c from heyboer--Alden is the person you will deal with--i cannot recommend it highly enough--tell them what you need -3 weeks or so later you have your transforme .......

i did a little googling depending on what speakers are in the aristocrat-you should have 95 to 97 sensitivity or possibly 101--from what i gathered from a few sites you add 49.2 to the retma decibel r .......

david--bottlehead is a excellent choice-first rate intructions and a more than helpful forum-and most important-- the sound --the kits are well designed for a first timer and are tweak-able/upgradable .......

some other electrical component was drawing power from the outlets in question-ie; fridge,furnace,air conditioner etc-whatever it was was not running when you first powered up-it cycled on and drew po .......

the drivers themselves are FE208 SUPER fostex brand--the baffles look to be 24 in by 24 inch -that should help some .......

i answered your email--i have two headshells-an arm some cartridges-etc-the arm has cardas wire-if yor arm is in good shape i would leave it alone -but you may have it all--howie .......

frank--look at the top of the madisound page --fostex box plans the 208es will work i would try that or the sachiko-i myself would put them in a jericho horn-with quality ribbon tweeters .......

jack you can't-they are two different types of signals-look on your receiver and see if it has tape out jacks-this MAY NOT work but if you do have the tape out jacks get a rca y adapter from two input .......

SET will not give you the power you may want with the fostex 200a--for new integrated i would look at cayin and jolida-they are reasonably priced i have both and they work well-i recommend these as th .......

bill-a simple answer is novices usually fool with the tubes and capacitors for starters-that is where i would start-and as time goes on and they learn more about tube systems the power supply and some .......

bottlehead is a good kit-if you want more inputs just install a goldpoint or similar selector switch-http://www.goldpt.com/index.html i would also with a bottlehead foreplay buy some alps or goldpoint .......

scott 222 a and 222b-el84's -i will not say they are the very very best phono section-but it is a good one without question--i think 13 watts a channel --i have not changed the value of the caps but p .......

vernon --those are rubber bushings--find a lumber yard or hardware store that has a large selection of nuts and bolts -i mean one of those that has a plethora of drawers full of every kind of nut and .......

go to the actual page 9 of the st70 manual--right column toward the bottom-fuse failure is underlined--read that paragraph-you should be getting from terminal to chassis 100k and up -this is in circui .......

the rectifier was not supposed to be in --but now we know its not in the bias-also on the can cap with unit unplugged-using ohm meter ck from each terminal on the can cap to ground of the amplifier-th .......

mine is rather old it resembles the 12 and 13 but i can't clarify which as my iron handle appears much larger than both the 12 and 13- i would suggest the 13 you can always get a smaller tip ::: TOPIC .......

i am sorry that is a hakko soldering station-bad typing skills--i use a hakko 936--it is not the best or worst --it seems to work well and is adjustable any decent adjustable solder station will work .......

since i have a stereomour and have fostex 208es drivers which are 96/ 97db i will say YES-my room is 16 x 18--i never seem to need to turn the volume past 1 oclock on the dial-i have turned the dial t .......

jeffrey's advice is excellent--i would go ahead and change out all caps as he recommends--myself the only difference would be jupiter or mundorf caps for the 6uf--but they are expensive and i am not c .......

put your meter on ohms-- disconnect the wires from the can cap--from ground tab on can cap to terminal--you should not get a reading you may get 0L or 0.000 this will not show if a cap leaks but will .......

jimmyjames makes sense-dedicated circuit is best- less connections-either way use a circuit breaker -they are code and they make them for a reason-do not tie into your mains panel without one-the conc .......

ok --preamps are pioneer spec 1 and sony 2000f-the pioneer having less than .05 harmonic distortion and the sony less than .03---both were made using the best components available at the time-the sony .......
