I've read on recording news groups that recording engineers use a technique called dithering when working with digital audio. In my (limited) understanding this is adding random noise, similar to tape .......

Not only was your cartridge (probably) not damaged, but the extra force may actually be beneficial. I recently got a test record to check my setup and found that I needed to increase my VTF and antisk .......

I have no experience with the B&O, but I used to own a DP-47F. I found it to be rather noisy. The plinth is thin and lightweight and does not offer any acoustic shielding and the arm is rather flimsy. .......

The only problem I've experienced with these old units is that the capacitors (particularly in the power supply) tend to go bad, especially if they've spent the last 20 years unused in a garage etc. C .......
