Hi Travis; I used transformers as a power supply, 100V A/C to 12V DC ( the DACT board is DC + will run from 6V to 18V ) rather than using the "DACT" supplies+ was very pleased with the result I've use .......

you can't internally rewire the 698 arm, the original wires run through a substance that is not unlike volcanic glass inside the arm tube and there's no way to extract that.... I have salvaged a 698 a .......

Tonearm is a different case, the headshell ( part with the screw ) is pretty delicate, the armpipe is steel, the pedestal base with the light/porthole is anodised aluminum which doesn't blister or bub .......

where the RIAA curve wasn't adopted much before 1955; + I have Mono Lp's as recent as mid 1970's that don't use RIAA equalisation... The Helikon ( + Titan ) Monos will play both early + late Mono Lp's .......

I'm not the 1st owner of this BAT, but the capacitors now onboard are considerably larger than the "Superpak" ones shown on BATs Site, ( pictured ) are Black, + labelled as "BAT" Definitely an upgrade .......

Agreed: the Boulder is better. This is a little like running a dragster down the 1/4 mile; the BAT is running low 11 seconds, while the Boulder is in the low 9's/high 8's. Any dragracer will tell you, .......

the best you will get out of this is to use it with a decent outboard DAC ( use an optical connector if you can ) The onboard converters were good in the their day; using this as a "transport" the Yam .......

+ I see from WE specs the 437A is 3.02cm diameter; so I see what you mean about the larger tube size not working because of the limitation of the top board cutouts 437A's are fairly obtainable in Japa .......
