I'm synthesizing tones on an iPhone. Part of it is in Swift, all the real time stuff is in Objective C. Frequency and amplitude does change, but that isn't what is happening when the click occurs. .......

My Citation does that occasionally, one time it even melted the glass. You might want to take the cover off the bottom, usually when a tube red plates in it, a resistor on that tube also fails/burns. .......

Hi Abe, It is a reversing AC unit, so it provides both heat and cooling. It used to be that these units didn't heat well below about 15 degrees, now they make them that can be used in northern climate .......

Guess its just my frame of reference, opamps, I think 50 cents or less, many around a dime. There are some 0 drift etc., you pay more for, based on the specs, these are more than worth it. I'm a tube .......

A tool/toy I use a lot is an infrared thermometer. You could take the cover off and use it to get a better idea what is getting warm and how it compares to the other channel. .......

I think the CDM9 Pro has the brushless motor, look for standard CDM9 and then use all of it except the motor and motor interface. You will have better luck doing that, than changing just the laser. :: .......

The house we are in now came with a timer connected to a well insulated electric water heater, that turns it off at night. I don't know what it costs to run and have never noticed a lack of hot water. .......

Yes, I should have mentioned that. 10 years is when Discount stops repairing tires. The goodyear tires were manufactured in 2020, the Goodrich 2018, which was fine with me. They are performance tires .......

There is a voltage threshold that they say damage a lead acid battery. I think it is around 10.5 volts. Deep cycle batteries don't have that problem. It seemed like this has changed in the last 10 yea .......

Scopes are handy to have around. What I use the most is a Fluke ScopeMeter. The portability is great. I have recently seen scopes of all kinds on CL at very good prices. I have also used PC scope plug .......

You shouldn't need a scope to troubleshoot the PS. The primary cause of hum are electrolytics that dry out. The easiest way to find the problem is to just jump each electrolytic with a known good one. .......

I work on most stuff without a schematic. In some rare cases I have traced out part of a circuit. Whatever you are attempting, do not be put off for lack of a schematic, give it a shot. .......

It doesn't sound like DC to speakers is the problem. Regarding bad output stage transistor, it is possible, but you will usually see DC or very weak, much distorted lower bass. Can you post some pictu .......

Good questions. SS vs tube, that's an easy one. Only thing that is tube is last stage, basically a buffer. I'm a tube guy but I would only get one if I was directly driving amplifier or a passive prea .......

I'm using RCA black plate 6L6GC's. I compared them with the original Genelax KT66's in Quad II's and they sounded quite a bit better. I'm really glad I did this, surprised me, beat the sound of Marant .......

You could try high resistance resistors (5 MOhm minimum) wiper to pot ends see if it reduces the pop. The idea is to bleed whatever DC exists on the .02 and .002 caps. .......

One thing they are both connected to is pin 6 of the selector switch. I think you mentioned it is new? Is that correct? If not, you could try cleaning the selector switch. Or before you turn the trebl .......

That's a big help. The designer probably assumed stock phono board, which has pin 9 grounded. Leave unit powered off 10 minutes or so no chance of accidental capacitor discharge (shock). Check resista .......

That is helpful, he means that ground needs to be there, same as the original circuit. The heater doesn't float. Look at the phono board, follow the trace from pin 9 on the two tubes. It should lead .......

The ground for the heater supply isn't connected to the star ground. That is why you measured 95VDC on pin 4. If you connect that ground, you won't have a ground loop because it is the only one connec .......

The ACV you are seeing to pin 6 (plate) is what you are hearing. 0VAC from 4 to 5 shows it isn't coming from the heater. But the earlier DC voltage measurement pin 4: "Only thing is on pin 4 on 12AX7 .......

Sometimes it is just the low side shrader valve. The cap is also important on the shrader valve. Most have a sealing gasket in them, need to be tight and replaced along with the valve. .......

The problem is the non-linearity of the 12au7. Previously I changed out 12au7's with Tungsram E80CC. It wasn't until recently I found more improvement with 6SN7's. Maybe it is something with your app .......
