Hello, I just got a pair of Jantzen P-core (permite iron core) 15AWG 6.8mH inductors for midbass drivers.. But the core itself on one of the coils has some damage (a deep crack in the photo above) .......

Hi, Try ClarityCap CSA.. Of the same values and voltage ratings.. be sure to check if cap dimensions would fit.. Try one for monoblock first and compare to the stock one with Solens.. Good luck.. ::: .......

The Fluance RT81 fits the bill.. Has auto-lift at the end of the record. Has a built in preamp and an AT elliptical cart. I have no idea how it sounds though. Good luck with the Ladyyy... .......

Try the new offerings from ESS Heil-AMT.. The AMT RM II-6 and the AMT LE 6".. I wouldn't drive them any low powered than with 2A3 amps though.. .......

AFAIK, JC is not fond of stock Altec crossovers and some horns, especially the stock crossovers of the domestic line of speakers.. Like me, he likes the compression drivers and woofers, and Diy it up .......

If I had lots more disposable income I would do a shootout between WE275A, early mono plate 2A3's, and AD1 mesh with Finemet core nanocrystalline PP iron.. Or maybe just settle with a type 50 globe me .......

The SL-1200GR is worth a look too at the same price range.. Just replace with a better aftermarket headshell from Ortofon or Yamamoto, etc.. .......

Hi Dave, I agree with you. My SS retipped 103R sounded great on that SME (with exrta weight on the outrigger.) It seems quite sensitive to armboard material though, when mounted on a vintage Thorens. .......

typical input cap value for 5U4G is actually 40uF but smaller is better. a slight increase to ~47uF is okay when the transformer and choke parameters are put into consideration (image above) I suspec .......

Hi Kevin, I use the LL1544a after the coupling caps of my dac (low output ~0.77Vrms). It's configured for 1:2 stepup. The discrete ss output stage has two 2.4uF output caps paralleled per channel = ~4 .......

Hi Pete, Yeah, that's why a heavily trashed MKII motor is a good thing to get spare shafts from. Some minor machining maybe needed though so a good machinist is always handy... BTW, my comparison was .......

Hi JD, The 301 above is Fabio Camorani's (demo in Italy's High End Show). That Ortofon 309 re-issue is pretty rare now I think. Anyway, I personally know someone who has all of his equipment on a conc .......

Hi, That was made during the EMT era (of which Thorens had tie-ups with). It's a rare beast. The DD patent Thorens had, was way back before they even made the TD-124, when they still operated in Switz .......

Jospeh, I think the outboard motor was salvaged from an old puter disk drive. The plinths and arm etc I think is pure diy. Bearing not sure but I maybe he machined it too (?). The platter from an old .......

Hi Joseph, Yeah, Joe Roberts and SP pioneered the re-discovery of these historical decks, and I think Jean Hiraga (being half Japanese) gave it exposure on the Euro side a bit earlier (esp the DL-103) .......

GPA did a great overhaul on the 515's. You can easily see and hear the quality. Joey told me the 515's weren't even broken-in and just had ~2days of use. It sounded great, and I expect it would be wor .......

Hi Pete, Yes, most probably by early next year I could start collecting parts for a project. It would be a simple 3stage SE amp, something like 76 or 6P5 (unbypassed cathode)-> DC -> 6V6G (in triode) .......

Thank you. The reason I asked alomost all 12ax7 complete schematics I've seen use 12.6V heaters, and rarely do I see 6.3V used. fred .......

It's not mine. From a Japanese website that sells them. You could emulate the alignment by fabricating extra support structure near the comp driver to clamp at the top and back of the Onken, and maybe .......

As mentioned below you could go diy kits, with soldering practice it would be a nice learning thing too. You could also get in contact with custom amp designer/builders to build you one off stuff you .......
