I have to agree here. My 300Bs just cut it with 92 db/watt/meter sensitivity in a 12.5 by 20 space. 92.5 db is NOT very loud for a crescendo in classical or rock/pop music. It is however, a loud 'av .......

The audio industry produces gear that performs much, much better than the gear of 50 years ago. Yes, there is surely a lot of cheap crap available in big box stores but quality solid-state and tub .......

Both these Klipsch models are very efficient I believe so you could drive them with any lower powered amplifier. I find Klipsch speakers lean toward a bright sound which is not a good thing when using .......

I own a pair of 300B SETs built by Silver Circle Audio from Houston, Texas. These amps are the classic Western Electric design which have been beefed up/over-designed with over-sized everything and co .......

I do not dispute that translating the original master whether it be on tape or hard-drive to the Redbook or SACD format is an art which many production facilities have yet to master.( no pun intended) .......

I use Furutech on all my gear coupled to 10 guage wire. Don't skimp here. Even on my SACD player the power cables make a significant and very audible difference in dynamics and sound-stage imaging. :: .......

Since these speakers are rated at -3 db@ 28 hz. you shouldn't need subwoofers. If the very bottom octaves are baggy, muddy or wooly it could be the SETs but based on personal experience, speaker place .......

The difference between Red Book CDs and SACDs to my ears is night and day with relatively few exceptions. The increased resolution gives my sound-stage 'air' as well as better retrieval of minute deta .......

We have a saying in Pro Audio. Flat is where it's at. With the exception of some high-mid frequencies( which the human 'hears' better than others) that I prefer attenuated slightly, this rule of ear h .......

Theoretically and to my ears, I don't see any advantage in bi-wiring. Bi-amping by all means will make a significant difference but no necessarily for the better. Less is always more. .......

I have some vintage Large Advents with refurbished surrounds, grills and WBT binding posts you might like. Reasonably efficient and they sound quite excellent with modern, forward sounding amplifiers. .......

Soliloquy 6.5s out-perform all of these IMO. They are no longer in production but I know where I can find a pair although they could use a new lacquer job. They are simply the smoothest, most natural .......

Any up-sampling device will be prone to 'digititis' sp? because of the extreme frequency of the internal clock which is exacerbated by any vibration from the disc. I suggest a non-oversampling/up-samp .......

I too have been experimenting with a variety of pre-amps. My conclusion is that they all impart their own distinct 'sonic signature' which is by definition, distortion as are tone controls of any kind .......
