Agree Bel Canto had a nice setup. Emerald Physics had a great setup. Macintosh->USB->Apogee mini-Dac->DSP>Amp>Speaker. Not decor friendly, but great sound for about $10-12k total system price. Best b .......

I used to own the ST140 and it never sounded very musical IMHO. Rather than spend money on Zeros, I think it would be wiser to save the dough in an amp replacement fund. .......

I thought the 3.6 and the 20.1 use the same ribbon tweeter. I think the 20.1's sound smoother though because the mid-tweeter crossover is at a higher frequency so the tweeter is not working as hard. I .......

I use hurricanes on 3.6/r in a smaller room (15x21). Works very well with smaller scale music. You will not get SS Bass from Hurricanes with Maggies. Everything else is excellent. Probably better to b .......

I've only heard it in an unfamiliar system so I can't comment on it's sound. But for the price, you could get it and a newer subsequent replacement for the same cost as the Audio Note. .......

IME, the 20.1 sounded less bright and more relaxed compared to the 3.6. Both driven by Levinson 33 amps. I think the difference is worth it and your room is big enough for either. .......

I used a Ref1 for 2 years. Then I switched to a Reflection Audio OM-1 Quantum. It is a battery powered solid state unit. In my system it was better than the Ref1 in EVERY respect. The only downside is .......

Agreed. When I tried a P300, my Sony SCD777es was dead quiet in all modes but the Plitrons in my ARC Ref1 buzzed loudly in all modes INCLUDING sine@60hz. Go figure that one. Eung .......

I would not call the Gamut "harmonically rich" in the old warm tubey sense but once you hear its crystalline clarity and RICH musical detail I don't think you will care. Sincerely, Eung Kim ::: TOPIC: .......

I too am using the Gamut D200 with the Magnepan 3.6/R and can offer some insight into this amp. I am also a fan of Thiel Speakers, a pair of 3.6 at a Stereophile show made a lasting impression on me b .......
