Maybe the cartridge I got is done. It didn't cost much, and I think the shipping from Switzerland cost as much as the new stylus (which wasn't very much)... ... But the bass is simultaneously bloat .......

One of the things that I didn't like about the original Star design is the suspended sub-chassis with the motor mounted to the fixed portion of the plinth. That's a spot where a lot of energy transfer .......

All of the Bullets I'm aware of are Ring Radiators, i.e. the diaphram is a ring concentric with the voice coil and former. They are typically horn loaded and the large phase plug previously mentioned .......

That driver is the woofer for the Urei B series 801 coax. It was used with a JBL 2425H compression driver IIRC. I'm not sure about the PAS time corrected crossover, but I do know the Urei Time Aligne .......

I haven't tried that spreadsheet, but it gives component values similar to a calculator a friend built for me. With PLLXOs it's important to calculate based on the input impedance to the amplifier. T .......

I'm no expert, but I'd consider something like a JBL 2245 18" driver in 8-9 cu. ft., and then overstuff the cabinet. That's a really big cabinet, but the combo should go pretty low and be pretty quick .......

Put a pllxo high-pass on the mains to keep the amps from running out of gas trying to reproduce the lows they can't do accurately. This effectively increases your head room since those lows take so mu .......

It is common practice in modern mainstream digital mastering to shelve response at 30Hz. Most of what is on the radio falls into this category. So, I'd guess that vintage vinyl usually has greater low .......

I believe that horn is most suited to the 15L. As Steve mentioned, the response is excellent. You might consider using a 1" driver and raising the crossover point closer to the natural rolloff of this .......

The ones I built were true to plan with the curved sides. I made the sides as one long piece and did most of the shaping with a #7 jointer plane and a little sanding into final contour before veneerin .......
