Enjoy your 1230s. I've had mine since '83, and have not heard a speaker since that made me want to trade in or trade "up." My guess is that you'd have to spend thousands to get as good or better sound .......

My current system is part 1980s: A/D/S 1230 speakers and Thorens MK166 Mk 2 table. The NAD CD player (525bee) I bought to replace my 1987 NAD doesn't sound as good as its vintage predessor. ::: TOPIC: .......

I did a phone interview with S.M. back in the early 1980s when I wrote for a local Maryland magazine (also interviewed Paul Klipsch and David Haffler for the article). S.M., as I recall, was soft-spok .......

The Sibelius violin concerto is a fav of mine as well. My only recording of it I own is David Orstrach's performance on the Melodya label (Angel in all but name only) with the USSR symphony. Have you .......

Never heard the Goldring, but the Pearl had shortcomings I found impossible to live with; namely, an anemic mid-range and a generally dull presentation. I now use the Sumiko blue point #2 and am very .......

That's one of the first jazz records I ever bought. It was recorded in February of 1956 in glorious mono. Great performance/sound. .......
