The rca circuit used 2.7k cathode resister and a 25uf bypass cap instead of the batteries, maybe try that to eliminate the batteries as the possible problem. You could also use a HLMP6000 led in place .......

Those cheap voltage displays aren't accurrate. I have a couple of those variacs. What I did was relocate the switch, fuse holder and power cord leaving just the recepticle on the face. Plug a kill-a- .......

Abe, one thing I did that helped allot on mine was replaced the pot with a custom goldpoint and IRC resistors. The resitors are pricey and add up cost but was well worth it. I had a PEC that was getti .......

If you use the largest solid core wire that would fit through the pins you shouldn't need any glue. I would cut the tabs to one hole to allow more room. .......

My mains for my system stays 120vac +/- 1 volt, the reason why I chose 120vac. Where I did the test on my workbench I don't have a dedicated line yet and on top of that it is aluminum wire. With those .......

jea48, with a resistive load wouldn't the amount of resistance needed change if you were to try different taps. The way I did it may not be the right way but can say that it simulates real conditions .......

I have a Signal SU-2 I will be wiring balanced for a whole system. For the digital I have a MPI-200-230 that will branch off the SU-2. The MPI will have eough headroom in either balanced or isolation .......

is a nice cheap pcb software that makes gerber files. The sofware also has an option to upload a scanned bitmap file to make your pcb. Have never tried that feature so can't confirm how good the featu .......

Make sure your amp can handle the higher heater current that the KT120s draw. data sheet says 1.7-1.95 amp, 6550 KT88 is 1.6amp. Brad .......

Replaced the 4.75k resistor to 3.9k. Could only get the EI KT90 type 1s up to 50mA. 3.9k allowed them to bias up 95mA while allowing KT88s to still have more than enough bias range. Brad .......

Would anyone have two acorn nuts they would like to sell? The acorn nuts are used as caps for the bias pots. They are 3/8-32 which is the size of a standard potentiometer nut. A couple of other Heath .......

Don't think clear coat would be needed. Compound and wax would protect the finish. For kicks I just took one I had and hit it with some 400 grit sandpaer then rubbed with some Mcquiars ultimate compou .......

It is a drop in replacement to the stock PS. Only mods to make fit is to relocate the feedback circuit and change to a 5 x 20 fuse holder. .......

Mike, this time around think I will stick with the dual JJs. Measured esr is shit on the JJs compared to motor runs and panasonic EDs but they will work nice with the stock bracket that houses the cap .......

Finally got around to trying this and have to say they are doing everything just right. Citation II has the McShane mods with a 18Ω cathode resitor. Running .9vdc across the 18Ω so at 50mA .......

yes the AA151 has a passive eq which is already basically the RCA phono. The plan is to add eli's phono with JEL's linestage in front of the amp. The nice thing about the heathkit is there is plenty .......

Neff I would think that would depend. I think the citation II I picked up on ebay last year for 475 shipped would be worth every penny with the 700 plus I put into it with the Mcshane mods and tubes. .......

Lew, another invaluable tool especially for Litz tonearm wire is a thermal wire stripper. One of the best tools I bought and is enjoyable to use just because it does such a nice job. Keep an eye out .......

Don't see why not. Print the schematic, open her up then learn and get familiar with the tester. Measure everything and make note what is out of spec then make your decision if you think you can work .......

My Bell 6060 heaters are wired this way too, all of them except the ouputs. As far as I can tell it was fishers way to use dc on the heaters for the phono tubes. .......

Another thing to note Doak is that they do this with a 10:1 transformer to get the 125 ohm load and around 20dB of gain with no resistors!!! So the mc switch just switches the transformer to the phono .......

I am working on a 300b amp for a freind. The amp uses a 6SN7 input with a EL34 for the driver. Between the 6SN7 and EL34 is a white bodied .22uF TC cap(top cap)750v. Between the El34 and 300B is a .47 .......

The places I have looked for the kingston elite showed they were out of stock so I explored some other options. I found a new open box CF to sataII that included a Seagate ST1 5gb CF for 20 bucks ship .......

That's correct. Don't forget to include the input resistors. If you want to set it up just for NAB you can leave the 4.42k out or if you want to set it up for just IEC just leave the switch out. Brad .......

The difference between the three eq's on the top end are: RIAA has a 2122 Hz corner frequency NAB has a 3150 Hz corner frequency IEC has a 4500Hz corner frequency If this helps. .......

I am not using a regulated supply. My voltage fluctuates from 118 to 122 volts. The measurement I took from the transformer was taken with a variac set to 120v and got 6v on the unloaded secondary. Wh .......

I used some hot glue to help support them to the pcb too being the only thing holding them in place is just the solder for the one pin. I also found that by dabbing some oil on the thread of the screw .......

Decals are DIY see link below. They may it look easier than it is. You have to be pretty persistant to make it through the learning curve. I think the white pigment with such small letters and numbers .......

You can't go wrong with the Hagerman half kits. They are well designed and allow creativity for tweaking to your liking. What more can you ask for in a kit. Having the support that Hagerman offers is .......

You will not regret this investment. I use 1.8x which gives over a 12" working distance, anything stronger will shorten your working distance. I would think anything over 3x would make it difficult fo .......

That's what i was thinking, looks like you used to much solder. This happened to me on my first attempts. To fix I just heated the bulb up slightly and removed with a hand desoldering pump. ::: TOPIC: .......

Why not just mount the piccolo with the switches being accessed from the top panel. The top panel already has the transformer and tubes up there. This would make things allot easier and would allow ac .......

I did a quick search at digikey and this is the best i could find that may do what you want them to do. Only problem is they are big (3.08" long) if you cut the mounting hole parts off you could reduc .......
