I think Front Panel Express only does aluminum - not steel. They are great for small amp chassis- but I'm working on building a small etching press, and need to cut .25" steel. .......

Add a drop of nail polish or lock tite to the end of the machine screw after tightening to help lock the nut in place-- its easy to crack it loose later for mods, but keeps things secure for use/shipp .......

but I agree. Of the 6DN7s I've tried, I've notived very little sonic difference. I prefer the RCAs- but I can't confidently say that they are much different that the GE and IEC Mullard (US, rebranded .......

My friend got a bunch of CONN 12au7s (maybe they said 5963) but they are clear tops with the side getters-- are these likely rebranded RCA clear tops? We haven't tested them yet- so no comment on how .......

I'm using all Vitamin-Q coupling and RIAA caps right now- its really laid back, almost too much so. My preference has been for SA series ICW Clarity Caps (a grea deal) for coupling- keeps things a lit .......

Those Kiev 88s are pretty finicky compared to the Kiev 60, and nothing compared to the Kiev 4(quite a well respected 35mm Contax II copy in some circles)- the winding mechanism can be a bit touchy, a .......

The little "nibbler head" should pull down through the black plate when you squeez the handles- thus nibbling a little bit of material. When you release the handles it should pops back up about 1/8 ab .......

Jeff, With the Benz Ace High's 2.5mV output you are very unlikely to need a step-up transformer, as well, with it looking for >1000ohms loading you should be fine starting with it going straight into .......

Jeff, The hi output Benz Glider H2 should work fine without a step-up, especially if you add the C4S (added gain). Though I've heard concerns about the high output model negating some of the benefits .......

You're right-- Welborne Labs mistakenly lists the hi end Cardas cartridge clips as being copper with silver/rhodium plating. A quick jump over to the Cardas website shows that they are brass with sil .......

Benjamin, not ure if you'll see this as it is burried. It works fine to make the conversion to inches-- make sure you take into account that you should be using 3/4"and 1/2" boards, not 21mm Find a go .......

Those Fostex plans are surprisingly easy to follow-- as many of the cuts are the same width, you just set the gate and start ripping boards. Doing the conversion from mm-inch was the more tedious when .......

My old Electro Voice setup was close to 104 dB, and there was audible hum, enough to strain my ears at times. With the 94 dB Fostex single drivers those same Paramours were almost silent. ( I had not .......

I have definitely noticed that over-toeing the speakers inproves the stereo imaging (even with one still in a bass reflex cab); I'm surprised when I look at the speaker angles right now, but you can't .......

If you use the Apple lossless format and the Line Out you can get pretty good sound. The iPod dock is really nice to have, as you can keep the iPod charged, and use the line out on the back. ::: TOPIC .......

When you say that a 2A3 is tougher to drive-- is the only concern that yo need to have the 6SL7 set- as a cathoded follower? Or are you suggesting that this will require more of a pre-amp? I have so m .......

I used to work as a stained glass artist-- and in our studio we used Sal-ammoniac to re-tin the solder irons every couple hours when solering big windows. If a solder iron tip can be saved- Sal-ammon .......

Does the SEX amp, and seduction work well together for a vinyl rig? I remember reading somewhere that the Seduction was only compatable with certain Pre-amp input impedences. (I may be way off here) t .......

The SEX amp is the only Bottlehead gear I've yet auditioned, but I'm sold-- so I am interested in switching over to a tube based amp set-up-- but am going to have to go about it one piece at a time. .......

Thanks to Dave for letting me test drive his Bottlehead S.E.X amp this weekend (Paul I'd still like to meet up with you to see the 45 Paramours) I ran the SEX amp both with (1) an iPod direct in, and .......
