They work fine at 13.8V, and the bigger the suppy current rating, the better. Each individual channel is limited at 7A, so if driving dual 4Ω loads a 10A supply is not out-of-line. A friend accid .......

The RCA horn system shown was originally in a 2,000 seat theater. They ended up in a large 24' x 48' garage for many years, and after rebuilding the networks with a 500hz\6dB crossover, and re-balanci .......

PIO caps sound very good. It would be a good idea to measure the ESR of the cap (not just the value). If the ESR is greater than about 0.5R think about a replacement. If it smells like dead fish, it's .......

Add a tweeter, done. A 290 on that horn is gone above 6.3Khz That horn was crossed at 500hz in the PL-301. With a tweeter crossed at 4Khz. .......

R149, R150 are 1K, so you will lose some LF. I would use electrolytics and bypass with film, YMMV. TDM has some good bones to do mods on, have a good time! I have three or four of them laying around, .......

You do realize that IC101 drives a 5KΩ load through the 100µF coupling cap? And you do realize the balanced output drivers are loaded with 1KΩ through their 100µF coupling caps? .......

If you add an input choke (instead of using a grid-leak resistor) it will lower the source impedance, this could lower the noise by 10dB (or more). .......

I owned the A7-500, and was a Tannoy dealer. The Altec had better midrange, was more efficient, and did not have surround issues. The Tannoy Cheviot sounded better than the 15" models, the 10" models .......

Thanks, I'll give them a try. I use the film-and-foil caps from Dayton (probably made by Bennic)as bypass caps in speaker crossovers, but they are too large for the TDM crossovers. .......

I found they sounded best with the midrange at ear level. If you bi-amped the NS690's, they sounded better than the NS1000's did. (I bi-amped several sets of NS1000's, as well as NS690's) .......

A tapped horn in not actually horn-loaded in the bottom octave, it's a sort of tapered transmission line. It looks (in sims) to be a very good choice for a driver like yours for high efficiency deep b .......

I think you are on the right track using the AK3 low pass section. I would try for a lower DCR though, the stock woofer is only 3.2Ω DCR, so insertion loss from the woofer inductor adds up quickly. :: .......

Most likely the 2.7 is between the woofer and the midrange, and the 1.2 between the midrange and the tweeter. I suggest you leave it as-is, or tack a 0.1µF film cap across each. .......

The insulation on this wire is vastly better than PVC, and the StarQuad winding reduces inductance. For short runs they have a smalle gauge at half the price, for longer runs they have a larger gauge .......

I think the 902 may be a better driver than the 475. I do not like the way Radian attaches the Kapton former to the dome, the Nomex used in the Altex/GPA is much better. .......

You need to order the LTH-142 horns to fit your EV drivers. The Faital Pro has a 1.4" entry with a four-bolt four-inch bolt circle. The Electro-Voice DH1012 is 36mm, 1.4" exit with a 3.5" bolt circle. .......

The high-pass filter in a powered sub is nothing more than an electrolytic cap. Add your own in series with the Pioneer speakers and you can add a film cap in parallel so it will sound OK. ::: TOPIC:: .......
