I listened to the Bruckner 9 this weekend and agree it is one of Jared's best. Also the Rachmaninov 2 has a very "wide" soundstage, due to the choice to record it from the conductor's perspective. ::: .......

I think if you are talking about a stereo vinyl recording, this is the correct answer. I seem to recall that the CD release simply did not capture the quality of the original. .......

My favorite on SACD is actually Caetani. Other than the overdubbed bells in the 4th movement. Orchestral execution is a little rough, but the most fun to listen to. The version on Linn is also really .......

Just a note to Chris: all RCO SACDs are 96/24 not DSD. That has been verified in discussions over at sacd.net because the radio broadcasts prevent Polyhymnia from having the ability to do a full DSD s .......

One would think that Sony machines would do the best job on DSD->PCM conversion. I have both the Oppo 83 and the Sony 5400. I prefer the Sony, but mostly because I prefer the transport. .......

Interesting, there are a number of great Pentatones. But I would say the label quality is actually quite inconsistent. They record in a lot of different places, not all with Polythymnia engineers, and .......

Allen, I know there are some systems that attempt to sync the clock from the transport to the prepro. Since that's not something one can do with the Oppo, how would upgrading the clock prior to the HD .......

2 come to mind pretty quick: the Beethoven 9 on Telarc and especially the Scheherezade on Philips/Decca. Both could have been great but sound terrible. It reinforces what it clear, to me at any rate. .......

I think the majority of the best Pentatone recordings have been for Julia, and now Arabella. While there are other winners, many of the straight orchestral recordings have not been as consistently goo .......

I think there is a certain consistency to the "house" sound of Telarc which Pentatone lacks. There are some great Pentatone discs, but it does vary considerably depending on the orchestra and the hall .......

just got the 2 Mozart SACDs from German Music Express. They sound excellent, and are well worth the hassle of ordering from a European distributor. I also recommend The Rite of Spring on Exton, which .......

I saw a new version of the Phil Lesh CD in Tower today. A digipack with a bonus live CD. Does not identify itself as sacd on the outside. Now I know the bonus cd has been available at dead.net for som .......

I have heard demo of meridian's trifield and lexicon's logic 7, which sounded pretty darn good. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced receiver or pre/pro which does good 2 channel music to surround .......

At the Sony demo, they took pains to mention that this was a hybrid SACD release ONLY. No CD release! I heard 3 or 4 Stones songs over the Eggleston system, including Factory Girl and Honky Tonk Woman .......
