Had a power 1 and anthem pre. They weren't bad, just analytical and uninspiring like a lot of mundane SS gear. Sold them off with no regrets .......

Good review David, I'm using the Clearday shotguns with my Harbeth C7s' and also quite pleased with the price/performance ratio of these marvelious cables. It's curious how these small gauge "bootlace .......

Thanks Jeff. One other point of interest that I didn't mention, is that the C7's, like all Harbeths have what the manufacture refers to as "lossy Joints", meaning that the pannels aren't rigidly attac .......

Lets just say that they're worth it for me, even after a big outlay of cash they're by far the best speakers that I've owned, and not certain that they have any real competition at 3500$ I'm at a comf .......

come to think of it, our first family stereo was an all-in-one TT, tubeamp, and speakers. This was a compact unit and the TT had an idler wheel drive! .......

A friend owns the Acoustic Solid "Small Machine" , which I think is about 2.5K$, and which comes with an RB300. It's all alloy construction, compact and quite heavy; This might work for you. ::: TOPIC .......

Olly, I owned an HK T55c in the 80's. Probably one of the better mass market TT's available at the time, but no Linn clone. The platter was stamped steel with a stiff, thick rubber mat to dampen it. T .......

Yes, It is cherry veneer although the picture has some extra colour injected in - the actual colour is more bland. The interesting thing about this line of TT's is that they all use a thread drive ins .......

thanx for the reply, I understand that they eat power, I wonder if my Naim nap150 will do the job; although it puts out 50w/8ohms & 90/4 it's a very dynamic amp with a fair bit of grunt for it's ratin .......

Do yourself a favour and seek out a used Naim cd5; it'll cost you a bit over 1k. Mine was 1160$ and is by far the best cdp that I've owned (including the meridian 508-20, Exposure 2010 cdp, S.F. sfd-1 .......

Choosing a system always seems to come down to what type of music is your main interest. I suffered the same with various tube amps untill I came upon the Naim components; thier amps simply accel at p .......

analogj, I've found the platinum to be a great cartridge for rock music, and anyone shopping in the 200-300$ price range will be served well by it, not left wanting for more.(unless one is very nitpic .......

mattjk, I've only experienced sibilance distortion on 1 LP that I own, that I assume is the pressing. No problems with any others. The Basis table with the Rega arm tends to be very quick and perhaps .......

my vote goes to the Rega p25; I've owned one and can say that it's one of the easiest to use/ setup TT's bar none. Oh, and they sound real good to! My present rig is a basis 1400 with tweaked rb300 .......

I also had an HK TT at one time with a Denon dl 110; not bad but I think you'd be better off with a Ortofon cart; I've had the om30 on a rega table with quite good results. MrStereo from Vancouver Can .......

something else to take note of is the fact that when a stylus drags in the the lead out groove continuosly the groove/ stylus heats up, leaving a varnish like build up on the stylus; hope you've got a .......

A good subwoofer you say? sounds like you'd be an ideal candidate for the Ascend Acoustics cbm 170's, which a net buddy swears by, and there's also good feedback on audioreview.com I'll be trying out .......

yup, I've noticed the modern day tube pre's sound leans toward the nuetral with greater emphesis on the spectrum extremes. Not nessesarily improving on your typical, miserable recordings (esp. cee dee .......
