I think it is possible to use (or to adapt) the K&K CCS to use the so called mu-follower low impedance output to drive your 2A3. That should be quite successful though the gain will be high. Adding a .......

I dunno Dan, my guess would be that similar voltages and power would be required. I think a gyrator and ccs just sound different rather than one better than t'other. But I have no experienceof gyrator .......

Guys, I changed from Solens in my Khorn crossover to copper obbligatos which removed grain very nicely, but they were a little sharp to me. Changing to Obbligato oils gave detail, clarity and grain fr .......

I have had great success with Cinemags for preamp outs. Their site offers reasons and opinons to the nickel sound and lack of distortion. Good prices and helpful people as well. tim .......

I have used Gary Pimm's CCS and recommend them to everyone. They worked for me as an anode loads for my 6SN7s drivers (now changed to 6H30s) and the nuvistor front end of my much altered GTA SE40s. Ju .......

Peter, how about a 370uF very high quality German PP cap for $75 + gst? It will discharge 40A so I'm told--very scary. I use it as an ultrapath cap in my directly coupled EAR 859 amp. .......

Hi T, the usual listening level is about 1/4--1/2 watt (measuring the voltages at the outputs) and 2 watts is fookin' loud. So THD should be pretty low at that level, but checking on a spectrum analys .......

Makes a big difference. Either the ALK (see alkeng.com) or Type A with upgraded foil caps is best. Beware the phase and impedence variations with a SE 2A3 or 45, that's probably why Paul K preferred P .......

Yep, it was direct coupled with a 417A driver, with the driver B+ taken from the top of the OD3 ie 150V. Seems very simple with very little in the signal path. cheers,tim .......

The EAR 859 (enhanced mode triode connnected EL509 ) uses PCC88 with 6.3 volt filaments, and seems to work well. tim .......

Dave, I have a pair of globe 50s that I presume are gassy as they are very slightly white inside the glass. Does that mean they are too far gone? Any further pointers to trying to recover them? I thin .......

Hey, how thin does silver foil need to be to get the required skin effect that Allen describes for his cables. He sell 0.05mm foil, but is it necessary to have it that thin? Would 0.2mm work as well? .......

I know nothing,but could you use Gary's PMCCCS and its' low impedence output to drive the autoformer attenuator(or the S&B attenuator) directly without the B7?And so can Kurt's mosfet CCS be configuer .......

I know nothing---but if 2 mosfets cascoded are "better" than one what happens if you cascode 3 or even 4,5,etc?They are not expensive compared to anode chokes. .......
