I have done hundreds of mods and repairs in my 35 years and blackgates are the best I've heard especially in cd players and dacs, preamps some especially in Musical Design (whom I talked o years ago - .......

I do all the edges on all my cds dvds sacds blurays and he top and bottom of the center circle. I use auric eliminator the made for pens do work better. I gotten matches for untreated for people that .......

I was thinking of some cheap sound tiles in my room. my idea was saving toilet rolls paper rolls filled with something different. cut to different sizes and glue to a panel and place the panels behind .......

I have never heard of EL 38 I looked in my books I saw it as EL 38 6CN6 uses basing 8EW where El 34 basing is 8ET .......

That sounds like going to be your capacitors leaking, the electrolytic ones. Sometimes you can add bypass caps across the electrolytics 1 ufd or less .1 ufd are best decent brand like solen caps. ::: .......

they seem very expensive to me just to try. I have tried a similar product. iFi iDefender usb adapter. I tried a demo 1 from audio advisor. I think it runs 125 or more I got mine for 25.00. I have let .......

I prefer multiple smaller caps in separate enclosures by using smaller multiple from electronic theory you lower the esr many early modifiers did this on dynaco amps it's really easy and sounds amazin .......

I would go optical cause your situation. I have never found any optical affected by RFI. I use both optical and coax some dacs and cd players just sound more open with coax but optical is clear and pr .......

I disagree going to KT 90s but I prefer KT 88s over 6550s. KY 90 put alot more stress on your power supply you have to be careful .......

I recommend Sylvania gold brand 12at7s myself in my equipment. You can still find decent prices but the gold brands depending on if they have gold pins vary a lot. .......

I refurb the bks has 1 one myself and a Hickok 539c c b and but usually use the bk its just fine, plus I have the mod for the bk to test 12ax7s better. I use maxi matchers to match tubes Tho. ::: TOPI .......

I worked for att and lucent technologies we reopened the western electric tube lab in 1990s in Pennsylvania using same equipment but they sold the tubes for 1000s but I got a few lol. .......

yes output tubes can fail after time, especially in not American made but they still fail also. If u have a tester and a suspect use a tester so it doesn't blow other parts in your amp .......

well color can be difficult use a dvm to test polarity. they are what we coupling or impedance matching transformers not powered usually used on tube amp outputs .......

I have owned several epicure speakers great budget speakers and there tweeters are really good in my opinion there woofers lack desire as need new surrounds every time but 100 bucks or less they great .......

these I don't know. I have had several pairs asl amps now I run otl 32 preamp in my tube and solid state setup. I have modified mine to run dual 12au7s per side or 6sn7 black plate depending if using .......

in some cases optical will sound better than coax but its situational but theory wise fiber is better .......

i would guess at 8 watts could be used as a tube buffer or preamp but finding speakers that need only 8 watts will be tough depending on the tubes it uses and how it looks and what output transformers .......

it looks like a 3 to me but based on construction it is Telefunken if it looks more like 3 its 12ax7 if a 2 its 12au7 i have several and compared you pick but i think its 3 and 12ax7 easiest way to ve .......

I agree its amperex 12ax7/ecc83 but has the red tip of paint on top which signified low noise per vacuum tube valley and the guys I knew there when i lived across the street from them in sunnyvale cal .......
