I sell Thorens and AR belts. I always tell customers to wait 7-10 days before adjusting anything else or taking speed readings. The belt needs to stretch slightly and wear in. I've sold a couple thous .......

Yeah, as I stated in the OP, I am not cleaning to play, but doing so as part of organizing. Thus, the "humid" state is exactly my concern...if the lp is in that condition, it seems better NOT to sleev .......

No issues in ten years plus. Literally a couple dozen cartridges in $400 to $2K range. Was using magic eraser before that. Was missing some highs one day, and used the Zerodust...I could see in the ge .......

The current day Jelco specs (they made the Sumiko arms) are WITHOUT HEADSHELL mass included. For example the TS-550S is listed at 9.2 grams effective mass. Adding the HS-25 puts it as 21-22 grams. Th .......

It's not in the same quality ballpark as the SAS, but neither is the pricing...you might take a look at the Vivid line styli offerings from LP Gear. My personal opinion, and I know some folks disagree .......

Om30 is a cartridge I still use on my vintage restorations with low mass arms. The sonic signature is very similar to the current bronze edition of the 2M. I find it very revealing and nicely balanced .......

I would recommend saving your pennies and going for the 750D. THAT is definitely superior to the MMT. If you do decide to go that way, read ads carefully...some offer cables, some don't. Some offer he .......

That motor has gotten pretty dry over its lifetime. Buy some sewing machine oil. Place 4-6 drops BENEATH the pulley on top of the motor where the spindle comes out of the top. Run overnight without be .......

It's definitely better if you shim it with foam or something similar. FYI, I ship Thorens tables all the time, and I frequently have to remove the bottom in order to get the transport screw to line up .......

Same experience here for a V-15 Series III. Definitely worth the cost...have used other generics...but this stylus, if possible, improves upon the stock Shure styli. Dave .......

I have found some older Pioneers to be very sensitive to being completely leveled. I went insane trying to correct a noisy bearing issue on a PL-41 once...and all it finally took was being sure the pl .......

Buy some sewing machine oil. Place 3-5 drops at the top of the motor, beneath the pulley. Run 18-24 hours with no belt on. In many cases, that will be all that is necessary. Dave .......

I really like the Jico SAS stylus. If you Google it, you will find the sellers. It's been a lot of years since I heard an original stylus, but I can't imagine it sounding much better than the Jico SAS .......

The MC phono stage of the NAD is "one-size-fits-all." You can't adjust the load or gain. I actually like the NAD c-160 quite a bit, but hope that having a more adjustable phono premp will be an improv .......

Did you use a tracking force gauge to set the stylus pressure, or are you guessing. If you don't own a Shure Stylus Pressure Gauge, stop playing records and buy one. You will also want a kind of stylu .......

As I mentioned, the Cornwalls sound fantastic with the NAD preamp and amp while playing jazz and most classical. Acoustic, too. And even rock sounds pretty good with the NAD cd player. I appreciate yo .......

The Hurst motor has a sleeve bearing, and the shaft is just pressed into place by the mentioned "collar." Definitely not something to try for motors with a non-sleeve bearing. Good point! .......

I agree that Shaun makes a terrific product and their customer service is excellent. One thing about converting a TD-145...I had great difficulty disabling the auto-shut off. Seemed it would be easy, .......

I thought it was usually either erratic or too slow...and that was why it needed to be warmed up? In any case, a couple of times i ran it 15-20 minutes to take a break...if anything it was running FAS .......

It seems Ortofon just cracked down on dealers who were selling below their prescribed retail. I'll be investigating other under $200 cartridges from now on. The OM-20 and OM-30 are very nice cartridg .......

Yeah, but it's the idler that comes into contact with the platter...where the pedal meets the metal...so to speak. It's certainly not a suspended subchassis design, though. Dave .......

I use the armboards from Shaun at Sound Supports all the time. A nicely made product delivered with exceptional service. If you are new to arm changes, I think going with these precut brushed aluminum .......

I am getting more and more convinced it is that ancient arm, then. I use an Ortofon OM-30 and it tracks beautifully on clean records. Not noisy AT ALL. I agree with those who have mentioned the impor .......

I'm not familiar with the stock arm of the 1009 but it is different from the CS-5000, correct? My first guess is the older (clunkier?)arm just can't do the job tracking as well. Dave .......

I agree that the UK is the way to go. That's where I got my best Van Morrison pressings. As far as Joni on cd...her voice is one of the main reasons I never left vinyl for cd...I simply could not find .......

I have used most of the sub-$150 cartridges on TD-160s. I do like the AT 440ml but be aware of the fact it really needs to break in. 50-60 hours at least, then it really opens up. My other favorite on .......
