I've used a Grado with an earlier SL-1500 Technics deck without any hum problem, but the original poster here says he's got it with the Grado Black he's already tried. Wouldn't the Gold just give him .......

On this SL-3200, the speed/pitch is adjusted by servos. In many of the later Technics decks, speed is regulated by means of oscillating quartz. I have an older SL-1500 which is a pretty nice sounding .......

I agree that bonus material on reissues is not always welcome. I usually find that it may be interesting for a listen or two, but after that it does just interfere with the sequencing of the original .......

My regimen for cleaning old aluminum audio equipment is to begin with good old Windex. This removes most of the general crud and typically will not disturb lettering or other silk screened decorations .......

The speed stability issue with my SL-1500 was mostly noticable during sustained piano notes. I wouldn't say you could really hear an actual warble, but the notes just didn't sound realistically steady .......

Agreed with Fred J above. I suspect audiophiles (and especially vinylphiles) make up a pretty small fraction of the prerecorded music buying market. The average consumer would likely reject CDs master .......

Yes, that is correct. I liked the idea of keeping the armboard thick for sake of rigidity. Also it bolts solidly to a thick lip below which makes it especially stable. I'm using an Infinity Black Wido .......
