I was a huge skeptic, for the same reasons you pointed out. It seems counter-intuitive that the last three feet of copper or silver carrying AC to your gear should make any difference at all. My ears .......

I have both the Power PC version (slow as a dog) and the newer Intel dual core. New one is noticealbly faster. Of course the 1gb ram vs 512mb for the older one probably doesn't hurt, but the older one .......

This is a gross generalization, but IMHO sealed boxes -are inherently more "tight" sounding in the bass -more inefficient and less loud than similarly designed ported boxes -less subject to room color .......

To my ears, VTL's 100's have always had a neutral to cold sound for tube gear, IMHO. No slur on the the VTL's; just my sense of their sound. They are nowhere near as warm and lush sounding as, say, VA .......

I am in the same boat (Totem Model 1). Check out Audiogon; they have a few REL's in the $700-900 range, otherwise check out the ACI titan. Not sure you want to settle for lesser ACI other models, from .......

The CJ Sonagraph amps are decent for their time, the preamp is a keeper for now, and the speakers are really a preference; not mine however. So if you like the speakers, go for the tube amp and check .......

Hey, no apologies here...I tend to agree. The Rega sounds good, but at a best price of $750, it's not a contender for the $300 DIO combo. The Planet 2000 does to my ears sound better than the Planet, .......

Hmmm. may need to consider this. I currently convert MP3's to my Sharp Minidisc, then output directly to the hifi. i've never thought of MP3's as sounding good, just convenient, so maybe there is some .......
