Suggest you try a Synergistic Research Powercell, preferably the 10SE. It will power your whole system (mine does, including a Krell FPB-600C amp, two REL subs, and a Plasma TV) and actually improves .......

Yeah, fmak, and I've heard of buggy whips too. I tried a few SACD players at the same price point as the Ayre and, even using SACDs, they couldn't equal the sound quality of the CX-7eMP using redbook .......

Periodically place you hand around the power cord. If it is warm or hot, then the current draw is too much for the cord. My bet is that you will have no problems. .......

Make your own. It's easy and far cheaper (see link). Only use one 2" 703 panel for general-type traps and up to two 2" 705 panels (4" total) if you want more mid-bass absorption. FRK faced 705 with 0. .......

Don't know. Use 10 gauge Romex for the wiring. The electrician may try to use 12 gauge, but 10 gauge is not much more expensive and will ensure maximum current transfer. .......

Try a pair of used Thiel CS5i's. These are preferred to the newer Thiels by many and can be had for under $4k. They do require a monster amp to give their best, though. .......

Very nice job. When building future racks, try to keep them as low as possible (~2 ft tall) to minimize detrimentals effect on the speakers' soundstaging. It does make a difference. .......

I have heard from several KX-R owners that this preamp is incredible. Most of them had a K-1xe (my current preamp) prior to the KX-R, and they all say the KX-R is in another league. High Praise indeed .......

Bar81, I plugged my CX-7 into my Chang Lightspeed CLS 6600 ISO power conditioner - you were correct, the sound improved. The noise floor dropped significantly, soundstaging widened with improved layer .......

I have a black-handle (later than the gold-handle) version on the Classe DR-6 that I bought new in 1989 or so. I also have a Classe DR-25 amp bought at the same time. Both are perfect and still in use .......
