For Ultrapath I'm using and can recommend the Mundorf 47uF 600V TubeCaps if you're looking for polypropylene film, relatively cheap (~$30) and compact high voltage caps, which have been designed with .......

Yes and no, the KT-120 has greater dissipation ability than a 6550, as do the GE 6550A, a KT-88 or a Kt-90. Simply placing it in a circuit optimised for a 6550 will achieve little more than demand mor .......

I meant to write CAN'T use them...! Many amps can simply be rebiased to use the metal plate 845's which are slightly lower dissipation, alas mine can't. .......

I'm using E80CC's to drive my 845's...very linear tube with superb characteristics, sounds awesome... 10,000hr + life and cheap and plentiful...but I've heard that an 845 driving an 845 is the mother- .......

Yes, Tim did put in 2 x 4.7uf (= ~10uF) per channel, but on my schematic he clearly had 22uf per channel. I imagine that he might of found 10uf to increase the apparent speed and tightness (slimmed it .......

No problem Aleks, your experience is the opposite of mine ! I too had an 859, and upgraded it to an 869 myself, which led me to improve on certain components ...they are very similar but the 869 does .......

Hi Aleks, Firstly the PL tubes are similar but have 40v heaters so they wont work in your 869, Ei are the only current production I believe...but there are plenty of NOS EL 519's going around eB@y.... .......

I totally disagree with the previous comments regarding the Meadowlarks being difficult to drive, that is patently incorrect, they present quite a benign impedance curve and work superbly with tube am .......

I'm sure many SETS would faulter with the generally horrid impedance swings which are often characteristic of ESL designs, however there is one particular SET of which I own which was expressly design .......

Quite frankly, the Tannoy dmt 15II's will not even wake up with less than 30wrms of serious high current, trust me from (still current) experience with them...I would go even so far as to say 60rms ab .......

That is the precise dilemma, I once found myself dealing with also ! I love my DMT's and my SET, but they simply don't work together...so being unwilling to give either up, do what I did, get another .......
