Hi all I have an EL 34 based integrated amp It has a headphone jack on the front . if I want to use the headphone jack only do I need speakers or a dummy load hooked up to it ? Actually I can't use .......

Hey Charles, I would think humidity would be more of an issue.Living on the coast (high humidity part of the year) gives me problems with my woodworking tools. So all my electronics,LP's etc stay in t .......

It was a revelation when I went from a Shure M97ED to a Ortofon MC10. That was in the mid 70's using a Yamaha receiver, Yamaha TT, and a pair of Speakerlab 6's. That Ortofon took it all to a whole mew .......

In looking at the Sam photofact I see that v5 uses one side for left channel A F amp and the other side for right channel A F amp. Is the hum equal in both channels? I'm grasping at straws here. PaulB .......

I removed all my shields. No hum. Moved all the pre tubes around checking plate orientation. No hum. I do have the s5000 with the slanted pre tubes and the stock shields but I don't think that should .......

Hey Charles. Looking at my S5000 I see that V5 is the pre amp tube that's right next to the power tranny. Although I've never had this issue, I wonder if there still isn't some kind of shielding probl .......

Jim, Another thing to try would be to put that Dodger blanket (or any blanket) over your tv when listening to music only. I know everyones systems and rooms are different but it's certainly worth a go .......

I have a Scott series 200 ECL 86 driven amp.When using a resistor for a dummy load I was told to use a 10w + 4, 8,or 16 ohm resistor. How important is the value? All my local radio shack had was a 10w .......

Hi charles, Given the time, I would like to build a case for my S 5000 as well this winter. Solid stock should work fine but I would not go any thinner than 5/8", maybe 9/16" with of course a ventalat .......

If you like your Roadrunner you'll love the Falcon. I'm using a Falcon on my Scout and it refined things across the board. A really nice improvement. Next month I'll probably get the Roadrunner to com .......

I picked up the slanted tube version, S-5000 (no roman numeral), on Ebay last year after reading Mike's recomendation. Then had Don Sachs rebuild it including the phono section.After 40 years .......

You should be able to swap motors as long as you have the smaller pulley on the 600 rpm motor and the larger pulley on the 300 rpm motor. Keep the capacitor that is with each motor with that motor as .......

If you have the ability, go through that amp and rebuild it, espesially with Don's (dls123) suggestions on what to do. He did a S-5000 for me several months ago. It is by far the best amp I've ever ow .......

I can't see how shellac would be such a good thing. I've used it quite a bit down through the years in my cabinet and furniture bussiness. It makes a great finish on wood but is really somewhat brittl .......

It is all phase correct. I checked that today as well. The xo's in my MMG's are such that you can disconnect it with 4 push-on terminals, after removing 4 screwa that hold the plate on. I'll try disco .......

I guess I wasn't clear. I didn't replace the XO's, I just switched them from one speaker to the other trying to isolate the problem. That switch made no difference. .......

They were in storage for 6 months to a year. Can't remember exactly. When I started using them again it was for casual listening. It wasn't until I bought some tube gear again that I started doing som .......

I just hooked up my Yamaha HT reciever. It has a built-in test tone, pink noise, white noise, or something. As the tone goes from the good speaker to the bad one it is easy to hear a drop in high freq .......

Yes. :( I did switch speakers left to right, right to left. That was the first thing I tried. To rule out room placement, which I don't think it is since I continued to here the problem when I switche .......

The magnets, then, are strips that are glued to the steel backplate next to the mylar. Do you think these could become partly demagnetized somehow? These were in storage in their original box for abou .......

Well, it's hard to say. The tweeter is working. Whatever is going on the soundstage has basicly collaped. I do have the socks off and don't see anything obviously wrong. Very frustrating. Paul ::: T .......

Yes, the fuse is fine. It's part of the crossover board that was switched with the other panel. I also did a continuity test on the tweeter wires on the panel in question and all is fine. Paul ::: TOP .......
