Here is a simple trick I use....simply turn the bass down on the amplifier/receivers tone controls. I agree that the goal is to take as much "work" as possible from the mains, but this seems to make u .......

this is the most basic question I can think of. The user manuals should come with the sub he buys. Read almost any of the instructions and they usually give 2 options...either use the HI level inputs .......

I see what you mean, but I don't think a speaker ever radiates ALL of the frequencies backwards. The basket surely probably absorbs some. And a midrange driver could also make some backwards sound wav .......

I think I got an answer to my question. I never thought of the answer...,my speakers likely have 2 crossovers which allow each of the 2 sets of drivers to be wired separately from the other set allowi .......

These are not the speakers I have. This is the updated model (FX). It has a switch on the back to choose dipole or bipole mode, so I know they can do both. I have only spoken with MA briefly, and the .......

I think you guys usually give helpful info..lookup dipole speakers online...many of them are ported. Many of the drivers are not 180 degrees opposing each other either. For one, Monitor Audio engineer .......

Yes, but more often than not, the entire cabinet is either ported or has a passive radiator. And ports (especially on bookshelf speakers) often face forward....teach me if I am wrong please ::: TOPIC: .......

You cannot glue the pins back together. They only cost 50 cents for a new one. I have replaced many broken ones. No need to worry about the grill cloth. Never enlarge the hole size for removing broken .......

you seem to want to use speakers with a digital input. A digital signal will need a DAC (digital to analog) conversion and amplification at some point. Some TV's will do that, but they don't come with .......

I just bought a pair of A/D/S L300c speakers that are in very good shape. These speakers sound nice and much larger than they are (they are a 2-way speaker with a 5 1/4" woofer and are 9" tall...a goo .......

it is hard to "ruin" carpeting with spikes. But that is not the problem. Have you tried the obvious? Buying concrete stepping stones? They are cheap at Lowe's or Home Depot. .......

a friend gave me the best reason to use a subwoofer...."they sometimes help not so much that they go lower, but because they take some of the work from the mains so that they can do what they are best .......

I suspect those exposed tweeter leads and the 2" dome midrange dictated the use of the infamous metal grills. I bought a pair of L710's once and the grills were pushed in and had dented the 2" midrang .......

I have a pair of Speakerlab DAS7's in my living room that look and sound "intimidating". I thought I was happy with the sound..it certainly played loud and had good bass (along with my AT 272 subwoofe .......

Until I bought an Atlantic Technology subwoofer. The foam seemed to be impregnated with silicone. It was thicker, seemed more pliant, and I doubt will ever need replacing. It is already 30 years out, .......

my Speakerlab also needed re-foaming. For some reason, Speakerlab uses silicone adhesive when assembling in the factory , making driver removal very difficult. I had someone do them that does it often .......

I agree...until I tried my ADS L710's without the subwoofer...I was amazed (I think the woofers are 6.5" They have 2 woofers per speaker though, which probably helps... .......

Buy a used one. One that looks good. Look for one that weighs at least 25 pounds. If you don't like how it sounds, buy another one. 7.1 mostly affects the output, not the input. One with a DAC would b .......

use HDMI for the video (and turn down the TV volume) and use a coax cable for the audio. I thought that was the best way. I noticed that some Blu ray players do not have a coax out now...makes me hade .......

I agree with everyone. The difference seems to be a preference for the "new sound of speakers" vs. the "old sound". Many listeners would like the new sound, but I prefer the old sound., especially wit .......

It sounds like your subwoofer in passive (not AC powered). If so it will not work. Keep in mind the receiver pictured has a DAC converter. That is good. To use it you will need a simple composite conn .......

I didn't think I "tweaked" much, but this reminded me of a tweak that I have done. When I get a pair of old speakers, I first mark the top of the woofer and then remount them turning them upside down .......

Interesting you say that. Everything I have read and even the owners manual claims my receiver (HK AVR7000) claims it is 220 v. It is most definitely 110 but with a heavy gauge power cord. ::: TOPIC:: .......

try raising your speakers more. It is easy to do. My mains are 36" of the floor and sound nice. Just try it. What do you have to loose? Try a subwoofer. You probably ask why? That way you can turn dow .......

I am not sure, but I would write an email to Samsung. Some electronics are made to "think or assume" for us and I don't like it either. I do like how we can update "firmware" with a usb cable however. .......

I agree. It is comical how most think a speaker is better because the manufacturer states an impossible max watt sticker on it. While a high max watt should be an indication of quality, it doesn't see .......

I agree not to use them. The only inexpensive brand that I might use is KLH. A bigger driver is definitely needed for movies. But if it sounds good to you, go for it.. .......

OK, a live performance always sounds better. Even amplified audio played through speakers.. live performances can be recorded.. so why when we play them back are they not as good? Is it because of the .......

I agree. At least until I heard my ADS L710's. They have 2 ea 6 1/2 woofers and I would guess they go down to 50 hz. Amazing. .......
