I put in the 270K resistors this evening. I used 2 watt resistors. They looked to be a little small and I wished I had gotten at least 3 watts. Should I change these to a larger wattage? I also insta .......

Finally! I got the Heathkit working as it should. I replaced another resistor or two which were slightly out of spec and I also determined that a 6SN7 tube I had previously tested and marked as BAD ha .......

Ok, I finally made a little progress. I re-read the Manual for the W4-AM, remember I have a W4-M, and it indicated to ground the center tap for the filaments if using a preamp without a hum adjustment .......

Ok I got home a while ago and have been looking over the amp. I cleaned the ground for the input. This did not change anything, it still has the loud hum. I then shorted the input and the hum goes awa .......
