I agree with the Danley measurement methods. They end up Under Rating the speaker performance, opposite of the rest is seems, since those others are overrated with peak sensitivities, etc. ::: TOPIC:: .......

I would go with an 80-500 Hz. horn and do a Tapped horn subwoofer .......

I have a full Edgarhorn Titan II system, with single full horn mono subwoofer in between that sound incredible with voice coils aligned. One choke on woofer, and 1 capacitor on mid and tweeter horn .......

It all depends on the SYSTEM approach to design. Sealed, reflex, tapped, or full horn? Also price is always a factor. What bandwidth you intend to cover, how large is the ROOM, and how are you loading .......

The 2220 is the very best woofer, simulated and measured, in my Edgarhorn Titans.................as a MIDbass woofer. The K-33 is still the main woofer in Khorns and has weaker output at it's top end .......

Those A drivers were my first choice for 2441's and Edgar Salad Mid Horns. My used pair came from a EE with Apogee speakers and he did not want to ship them to another potential purchaser to CA from M .......

I was a late starter, compared to you 12 years ago, but I designed 3 bass horn, on long tapped horn, and several bass reflex cabinets with it. Lots of interations, however. Much cheaper than sawdust! .......

Not bad for a 90 Hz Short horn. I put K 33's in mine with PEQs into a 2 way with EV DH-1a's and 960 Horns. Mine went down to 30 hz. Was a good office setup, however temporary. .......

Diaphragms were only $99 each and came with "perfect match" curves vs. the reference JBL 22441 diaphragm. Not sure what the price is now, but it's worth a look considering you are messing with a $20,0 .......

Yes. The altec is the wrong woofer for that horn based on physical dimensions alone and the required modifications to the lumber. The 15C is a simple swap without any mods with a SIGNIFICANT +4 db imp .......

If you do use Bass Reflex with the 2446, you will have better luck with Twin 12" drivers, like the Eminence Delta Pro 12A or the Kappa 12A's in Parallel and with a D'Appolito configuration. Just sayin .......

They are not. Need to radically change the woofer section. The old driver was great until the glue gave out and the magnet shifted, no pins to prevent. Shame it was a very good woofer, no longer made, .......

I've been recommending the Kappa 15C woofer for LaScalas and the even better bin, the FH-1. It has 4 db more output at about 400 Hz. than the K33. Let me know if you are willing to trade for a new pai .......

Opinion, not measurements. All woofers sound different, especially in the same horn, so personal preference is the key. Someone else would PREFER the EVM. No one is wrong just different taste. ::: TOP .......

Do what I did. Get a Yamaha CX-A 5000 with YPAO room correction and the amazing ESS DAC chips built in. Used on Ebay for about $1,0000. Even for 2 channel use, it fixes room issues very well. It's go .......

I heard the original as well as the Classic Audio modern version with fancy everything. Sounds like crap compared to a Klipschorn or better yet, a Klipsch Jubilee or a Danley SH-50. No super low bass, .......

It depends on the woofer and the horn. A pretty good assumption, generally, but there are exceptions that can be measured and simulated. .......

The problem you are trying to fix is inherent in the FH-1 and LaScala SHORT HORN bins. It's at about 140 Hz. with a 7 db peak. You can get a 2 channel mini DSP at a little over $100 to take care of th .......

As former owner of many LaScalas and even more FH-1 bins, the FH-1 is clearly superior, especially with the stiffeners. It measures and simulates better in Hornresp. I once used FH-1 bins with a pair .......
