I have had negative experience with aluminum in my environment (marine) so I avoid it when possible and stick with copper. Perhaps those drivers using CCA wire function ok, but I'm afraid to take a ch .......

I must admit that in all my listening experience I did have the opportunity to listen to one speaker (and only one) that exceeded my Altecs SQ A very nice pair of Wilsons that really are exceptional. .......

My main speakers are Altec Valencia, stock components with custom cabinets the I built. The manufactures data published back in the day (in the sixties?) , claims a 97.5dB sensitivity for the factory .......

the valencias, flamencos and nineteens are very similar. I built a pair with 416's and 811/806 horns and built the xovers. The sound of the altecs is so good I moved my cornwalls to the rear channels. .......

The ESS speakers are now about 25 years old, and yes the foam gave out awhile back, but I refoamed them and they have been fine since. I think they are 6 ohm speakers, the other on the system are 8 oh .......
