That squares with my experience. Over the years, I've had a few pairs of Dyna Mk VI's and a number of both GE and Sylvania tubes. The Sylvania's have been better by far; better longevity, fewer defect .......

I have run other amps into the 8's, and they've never diasppointed. Amps around 35W (Marantz 8B, Dyna ST-70) had plenty of volume and sounded very good. The Dyna ST-35 (17W) sounded particularly sweet .......

It's hard to say, exactly, but materials like vinyl start to move at something near the glass transition temperature, which for vinyl is about 80 deg C, or around 172 deg F. I don't know how to correl .......

For small amounts of lift, they're ideal - non-wicking, dense, big enough to spread the load a bit, and relatively inexpensive at a sporting goods store. If you want a 6" lift, maybe not the best appr .......

I think I've probably bought more LP's than CD's over the past few years, maybe about a 4 to 1 ratio, and maybe at least half the LP's included a CD version - Wilco, Coldplay, to name a couple. ::: TO .......

The A-25's are a great value and easy to find. They seem kind of like Dynaco ST-70 amps - the price seems to always be about the same, so, apart from inflation, I suppose, you can just about always se .......

That (Micro-Seiki) demo is a very interesting anecdote - thanks for sharing. I guess I'd be curious whether there was an audible difference between an unvacuumed and vacuumed LP without the second ton .......

I worked at Radio Shack in high school. We had a set of Mach One's hooked up to the top-line receiver at the time, and, I want to say a CD player, but it might have been a cassette. I would use Stevie .......

I had some Speakerlab 7's a few years ago...I used 'em in the garage for a shop setup, but they were total power-hogs I couldn't drive them with anything but a Dynaco 400...plus they were way too big .......
