I believe it's the Red and Blue that are interchangeable and the Bronze and Black MM that can be swapped. I still have the excellent sounding Blue that came with the Rega but unfortunately not easily .......

I probably haven't played this copy of Zep IV in forty years so not sure how bad it was before I cleaned it but I suspect the Disc Doctor brush and cleaner greatly improved the playability of the reco .......

Maybe I should say expensive for me but I recently added a Rega Planar 3 with Ortofon Bronze stylus to my setup. I've been having good luck cleaning some of my 40 plus year old vinyl with a Disc Do .......

Your tv should have some kind of digital out, usually optical cable. Basically you need something compatible with your avr. Newer tv's have hdmi arc which is hdmi audio output but your avr must be new .......

I have found that some apps like Sling, Youtube, and Fubo just to name a few only stream in stereo so any other processing from an AV is kind of like the old dolby pro logic. Apps like HBO Max, Showti .......

Most pro style recording interface can bypass the built in preamps by using the 1/4 inch line in input instead of xlr. That way you can at least in part utilize a better external preamp. .......

not so much with netflix or prime but apps like sling tv the audio doesn't always sync with the picture and it's only stereo. The cable companies do a better job with sound if that's important to you. .......

Yes I considered updating the amp but in the end the cost wasn't worth it. I did do a thorough inspection of all capacitors which look to be in excellent shape even though they're over 20 years old. : .......

If something else is decoding the digital then it may not matter what you get. If you are using analog outs on the player I would look for an old used Matantz hi end dvd player. Anything new that's in .......

The dvd8400 is a very good dvda player. I thought cd was pretty good and sacd sounded similar to cd but clearly not as good as the sa11s1. Considering you could probably find one for a couple hundred .......

From what I have read, lpcm should sound just as good as dolby hd or dts master. It also seems that none of the eq software in the new pre/pros can be aplied to dolby hd or dts master but can be aplli .......

I would say #2 is the most common way to hook up a sub, just make sure you use quality Y adapter cables. If your sub has a high pass filter the Y adapter is not necessary asumming your sub quality is .......

Make sure your direct tv box is outputing 1080 or 720. On my Motoroal box from comcast you can change output from 480 to 720 to 1080. My neighbor had the same problem as you because his box was set to .......

My experience is that balanced helps keep out RFI noise even on short runs. With my pass labs x2.5 preamp there is a small noise with every step on the volume control that is much quieter with balance .......

It sounds like you like your old B&W's and the 804's are are great speaker. If you have heard them with Arcam and like it I would say go for it. If not I would consider Classe. B&W speakers are voiced .......

Especially if you are using the receiver as the dac. You might get some improvement with a more expensive player performing the dac duties but it will be limited to the anolog performance of your rece .......
