I have little experience with maggies and will not compare. But I have lots of experience with 8B setup. Obviously you're comparison is flawed because you can't compare in the same system and you prob .......

Bet you it's related to power transformers in your gear. Best rack is a horizontal one where there is no stacking of equipment and no flux from cores affecting other components. If you have a vertical .......

I believe you can make most rectangular rooms work well regardless of the construction. Concrete is pretty darn good. Probably better than the usual suspended floor and 2x4 framed drywall. But if you .......

I used the cardas dipole math to place ET LFT8Bs and they aren't even true dipole in the current version for this model. That put them out about 5.5 feet. I have them about 7 feet now after a couple .......

The best way to get more accurate flatter bass in almost all cases is with room treatment. Something as simple as corner bass traps will clean up the bass far, far better than adding more subs. And it .......

I am not sure that dipoles are as bad with a sloped ceiling going across the width of a rectangular room. With normal radiating bass reflex speakers I would get a channel imbalance when setup on the s .......

Cardas dipole is good math to use IMO and my room and the ETs. But your room is not rectangular so you have to average things out, and that guessing could put your speakers out in a big way and you do .......

Not to say there is only one right way, as there isn't. Rooms have so much to say in this. But I have found that toe in and distance between each speaker are the two big factors of getting a good fill .......

I'd put a few corner bass traps in that room. This will clean up frequency response from bass to mids and even treble. GIK make Tri Traps which are nice for corners. Or more upscale product called Meg .......

If you have a wooden suspended floor then decoupling with a pad like that would be good. But I tried them under my big floor standers and didn't like them. I prefer using 4 small devices under each co .......

I personally think the SA stands suck. Pretty basic. Not much engineering to them. And the stock spikes are a joke. Not easy or practical to load them with sand etc. And spikes in to a suspended wood .......

The results will depend. I tried QRDs on the front wall and didn't like them but some things have changed in my room and I'll bet they would sound great now. It really depends on what other absorbing/ .......

I wouldn't bother doing anything. You have horrible speaker placement for one thing. Way to close to the front wall. And the unit between the speakers is doing so much acoustic damage you can't recove .......

I think the room will dictate where the speakers should be placed for ideal sound unless the speaker design is one of those that requires placement in corners or right against the front wall. I doubt .......

Torus uses the acronym PIU (power isolation unit) which basically means isolation transformer and the RM2.5 description says it is a PIU device. And its only rated for 2.5 amps so the tranny will be s .......

One amp that works with the ETs is the LSA Group (aka DK VS-1) integrated amp. Marty from Bound for Sound tried different amps with the monitor style ETs and found the LSA Signature had great synergy. .......

Your room is not suitable for dipoles like the Maggie or ETs. Both Stale and I have stated this. You have to put them too far out in the room for the backwave to integrate properly as it reflects off .......

I think the room is too small. Cardas dipole calculator says the speakers would have to be 5' out in to an already small room. That just wouldn't make sense. It would look pretty ugly. And there isn't .......

I agree the blinds are not a good surface. They are on the front wall and the speakers are dipole planar and energy is directed to the blinds and the reflections can't be good. I do have one 2x4 foot .......

I heard from Bruce Thigpen. He says the radiation pattern of the dipole is a figure 8. When looking from the top of the speaker, one half of the 8 radiates forward in an oval shape, and the back half .......

The OWC quad drives look good. I am getting a couple with FW800 to work with my Mac Mini. Firewire is better than USB because USB devices all compete, that is if you have a USB DAC which you don't wan .......

Should be OK. I had a DP6 on a Gyro and it worked. I don't think there's much to worry about in arms working on a table other than the obvious like you wouldn't put an ultra heavy arm on a sprung tabl .......

I would think you'd only get about $700 for a black MM/MC 834P. The upgrades really do make the 834P sound better. Less romantic sounding, more accurate, but still musical. Not sure I'd go for the Hov .......

In my experience just moving the table (all my equipment actually) from between the speakers to the side wall was a huge improvement. Its a tip from Jim Smith and "get better sound". Not sure about mo .......

I've seen recommendations for 20-25 degrees for SRA. The reca in the picture is at 20 degrees. But that seems way more than a Dyna 20X I had which was about 2 degrees. .......

That's interesting. It's an Audio Origami arm with a custom protractor by Seb that has Baerwald and Löfgren alignments on it and the instructions suggest that Bearwald is best so that's all I've used. .......

I would think the 20X sounds bright at 47K. I'm in the camp that most MC's require loading adjustments away from 47K for best results. My 20X-H sounds very different at 1-2K versus 47K with my phonost .......

The belt is about 3-4 years old. I bought it from a dealer new but it was sitting in a box for some time. It is the o-ring. Its a current Ace Space Deck. The grooves of the pulley and platter are line .......

Can't tell which wall your speakers are on, the 14 or 19 foot wall. If you use the Cardas math, your speakers should be about 6 feet in to the room if your speakers are on the 14 foot wall, and about .......

Get a 12 inch arm for the Moerch. It will work fine with the Teres articulated arm board, as will the regular and precision 9 inch arm wands. I have a Moerch DP6 and love it. My friend has one as well .......

One factor related to whether this would work or not depends on the output of your cartridge. If it's a LO MC it might not work well even using a 10X stepup. Your amp and speakers would also be a fact .......

Ya, a cartridge like that on a P2 seems like a real mismatch. I'd upgrade the table first to something like a P25 or a Bix, and if funds permit, get a Denon DL103 or other bargain LO MC. .......

I have a Shelter 501 and a Denon DL103 and a Denon DL103R. I like the Shelter more than the Denons. To my ear, and on my Morch arm with the blue dot high mass arm wand, it has a lot more detail/refine .......

On the old AC motor there is a collar on the top just below the pulley that I think locks the shaft in to the housing or something like that. Check that the collar is tight. If it is not, it will make .......

Option two makes more sense than option one since there are testers already for the small tubes. But option 2 doesn't make much sense to me when you can just use the amps to test the sections of the 6 .......

Jeepers, $3600 is a very hefty budget. You should be able to get an arm, table, phono preamp and a cartridge for that. All of which would be big upgrade from your existing rig and not leave you wantin .......

I do not agree with this. The amps are not 6sn7 tubetesters, and I don't believe one can state that if they work in the amp then they are good. I recently had some 12sx7s in my amps that 'worked' fine .......

Those norh monitors should throw a decent soundstage. I doubt the electronics are at fault either. If you heard a nice soundstage at the store, and not at home, it's probably your speaker position in .......

Contrary to what Marc says about extensive mods, I believe all you need to do is replace the coupling caps, which is not an extensive modification. This modification alone probably has the biggest imp .......

Well, it's not that easy keeping several cartridges. Especially if you're tastes are exotic and your budget is beer league. And theres also finding cartrides whose compliance match whatever arm you ha .......

This is the one thing I love about an analog vinyl rig over cdp's. You can change the sound of your playback pretty easily with vinyl compared to a cdp. And you can change it in more than one place, l .......

It's really important that sections match - at least thats what I find with the 12SX7s that I now use and I assume the same can be said for 6sn7s with the M60s. If buying expensive NOS tubes make sure .......

I have tried that tube as a driver in my M60s but I understand it wasn't stable as a direct equivalent in the circuit. The 12SX7 is at 12v, and it's a great tube equalling the very good but expensive .......

The bentaudio website says for a 100 ohm load, put a 12K7 resistor on the secondary. 10K results in 82 ohms. .......

I can't imagine you'll ever be able to get it back to where it should be, and using it would probably damage your vinyl. I would get a new one since they are pretty cheap, and take the cost out of you .......

Audiocubes is from Japan. They list a mailing address in the US, but I asked them about it and they said they are in Japan. I found that EIFL was more responsive than audiocubes, and could ship right .......
