Just like everything else in our little world, opinions vary. I am currently in the midst of rolling opamps in my pre. I have had some folks express that they don't feel opamps have any real impact on .......

I agree. I added extra resistance on the one on my amp for that reason. A glow is all I need to let me know power is on. No glow = power off. I don't need or want anything more. .......

Yeah, I wondered the same thing. My solution (probably misguided and inadequate) was to use a very small ball of it, put in the center of the top of the cone and squish is as flat and thing as I can. .......

I just use fine sandpaper, then clean it with alcohol. If you are just looking to make a solder joint, the enamel will burn off if you dip the end into a solder pot. .......

Yes you are right on, although the K2s are front ported so proximity to the rear wall is less critical relative to bass. What I ended up doing is placing them 16" from the rear wall with only about 1/ .......

The RCA connectors themselves at the end of the leads from the TT may be the source. With the age of the TT, you could have metal fatigue that has broken the wiring or simply a separated solder/crimp .......

Assuming the tech doesn't find anything burned up or non-functioning, you should change out the electrolytic caps if they are more than 15 years old. They do leak - I had a TV that was destroyed a few .......

I pulled a burned resistor out of an amp, but I have not been able to find another one. It is a cement resistor, I think a film-type becuase it is vertical mount and kind of thin. It is 5W/0.33 ohm, b .......

What I did was reach my hand inside and push up on the magnet while I used a flat head screwdriver and VERY CAREFULLY pried it up. I was able to do this without damaging the plywood. Also - FYI in cas .......

I have melted real teflon before with an open flame. As you know, Teflon is generally a milky white color. When heated close to melting it turns clear. That is an indicator that might help you. ::: TO .......

This is straight from the silver metallurgist I work with extensively: Annealing Temps is where its all at. For 14 Gauge silver wire, the proper annealing temp to achieve "Dead Soft" is between 1375-1 .......

They may be a tight fit, so use caution in slding them on. If they seem to require too much force, back them out and use a hair dryer as recommended by Eichman to soften the plastic, then insert them. .......
