At a good friend's suggestion, I bought a pair of Fountek 3.5H ribbon tweeters and am using them in lieu of the RP 302s. The 302s were only giving me about 2K of usable response, from 11K-13khz or so. .......

The mid horn is a large wood horn that's about 22" wide x 6-7" tall and 16" deep or so. I'm not sure if it's exponential or bi-radial. Paul Klipsch Hans made them until they switched to the metal K400 .......

I am finding that the 32B is far superior to the 32C plastic horn and I prefer it with the 414Zs to the LeCleach 550 horns. I am guessing that this is because the N1500 based crossovers are customized .......

My favorite complete set is the later Gulda. I've owned the Schnabel and Kempff mono (still have it on CD) and the stereo on LPs. Gilels, Haskil, and Richter are wonderful in certain sonatas as well.. .......

The Haydn "Farewell" Symphony, #45, is also wonderful. I was just listening to this on the DG originals box the other day:) During the last movement, I thought I had some sort of RFI or crosstalk prob .......

The Planets is certainly a great recording, with excellent sonics AND performance. My understanding is that Steinberg made a number of recordings for Capital records and there is a large EMI CD box a .......

My reference has been the Kempff, Szeryng, Fournier but am most curious about the old Westminster chamber music recordings with Walter Barylii, the Vienna Concerthaus Quartets et al... Does anyone kno .......

I love that Oistrakh recording, and another favorite is the Kempff, Szeryng, Fournier on DG. For me, it is THE cycle and has beautiful sound to boot, especially for DG. A bit hard to find them all on .......
