I was browsing the Mills MRA-12 datasheet today, and noticed it mentions a Load Life of 2000hrs @ 25C when running at its rated current, with a duty cycle of 1.5hrs ON, 0.5 hrs OFF. This has me wonder .......

Ive used LM317's as CCS's to supply smaller (300mA etc) currents to heaters in small signal tubes before. Thinking of doing the same with some 6n1p's in a phono stage... which of course needs 600mA. J .......

I agree with every word. From the first moment a v-cap replaces an auricap (or similar) its quite an experience.. I had a similar experience with Soniccap Platinums lately. I havent compared v-caps a .......

A while back I had a pvc platter machined, which has been used in a Teres-like TT since, with a Teres motor. It took some tinkering but I got it the strobe + sensor all working fine. Ive just received .......

i havent tried too many 300b's and am still searching.. but so far what i've heard - ValveArt 300b - A little to the glarey side for me, lean bass but its deep and tight. Not much layering or depth to .......

Another vote for Allen Wrights RTP3D. Especially if you have a Turntable, then it becomes a no brainer. You'll never want to use another phono stage. .......

Hi Rick, I'm an aussie too, thats bought from the before mentioned ebay seller many times. The ASC's seem like good caps, but in all honesty I didnt do a direct comparison between them and other caps .......

i find *new* vinyl to generally cost less than CDs, and the selection of new releases is huge (almost every new cd ive considered buying is out on vinyl also). It really cant be compared to sacd in e .......

thats exactly the way i did (i didnt see online procedures saying to do this, i only did it because its similar to how i normally run wires through tight spots). I think its by FAR the easiest method. .......

I've been doing similar.. Machined up a jarrah wood plinth and PVC platter to use for now, but plan to eventually use them as positives for moulds, so that I can experiment with some carbonfiber/alumi .......

You might find Neutrik Speakon connectors just make it, and will most likely be the cheapest option. Their max voltage is rated at 250VAC, but Ive read a few posts on the asylum of people running them .......

I think this depends a lot on the system. With my amps (class-A, triode wired), pairing the SED 6550C to a pair of mini-monitors sounded quite good. Yet on my full range speakers sounded slow and unco .......

Im actually quite surprised at how well tubes are working on it. Bass even seemed to tighten up with the tubeamp, its just as deep, but less volume of bass... if that makes any sense.. of course sound .......

In my case ignoring the open area in the L and concentrating on the closed corner helped, but my approach was butt ugly and the other members of the household threw away the acoustic tiles etc. So the .......

They will improve with time (especially in the bass, at least in my experience), but I think no one will claim they are without some sonic colour of their own. I guess its a like-it-or-leave-it type .......

Borbely Audio also sell Tantalum resistors, which I believe are non magnetic. Although truthfully I'd be inclined to go with the AN resistors instead. .......

So your saying the music persists but the hum is gone? There might be oscillations occuring... Perhaps try sticking a 1Mohm carbon resistor between ground and the point your referring too. Got a link .......

You may want to consider the JA Michell VTA adjuster and Finger nut. You still need to re-tighten the nut after each adjustment, but I imagine its much easier with the JA finger nut than it is with th .......

I got some (non-audio) projects coming up where I plan to use CF, so I'll give the casting resin a go. I was told the 'opaque spots' result was from stale gelcoat. Which pretty much fits as the tub ap .......

There are some positions in which Ive liked the alternatives more than black gates. Such as big oilers in B+ supplies, or oscons around a tda1541. Elna Cerafines arent shabby either. I guess it depend .......

I was forced to do just that. Replace the 5W Mills with a cheap 5W cement wirewound. The Mills wasnt in there long so I didnt get a chance to do any critical before/after listening, and truthfully ha .......

the coldest resistors ive heard are vishays - but i dont consider them worth the price. Tantalums to me are very neutral, but i dont imagine they would 'unwarmify' an amp substantially, especially if .......
