According to the Jriver site, JPlay adds a layer of sound processing that can degrade sound quality, performance and stability. They recommend uninstalling it and apparently the author of foobar agree .......

Buzzing and static noise is something I was worried about when considering the active speakers/powered monitors route. The X300A fortunately are dead quite...even in standby. .......

If you're suggesting the X300A uses the same drivers as the LS50, unfortunately...no. The specs are the same but the drivers are different. In my dreams they are the same. The LS50's are suppose to be .......

I know that system synergy plays a big role. I'm quite certain that the hi-fi setup I have doesn't sound their best due to Proacs liking tube amplification more. Ayre apparently is not the best match .......

Apparently, the X300A's analog still gets converted. The KEF will do an ADC then DAC if it received an analog signal. Doesn't matter really as I'm extremely satisfied with the KEF's DAC. .......

So I took the plunge and bought the KEF X300A powered monitors unheard due to them being online order only. I purchased them based on reviews and other users' comments. These speakers are phenomenal. .......

I mentioned in another thread that a local dealer has an Audio Research SP9MKII for $800 CDN. This is a consignment item. The dealer says his pre is in near new condition and has the original tubes... .......

Another vote for the Airport Extreme. Best router I've used in my home. Excellent signal and haven't had to reboot it unlike the Linksys and DLink routers I've used in the past. .......

Already have the stx in my PC. Great card; great value. The PC is hooked up to audioengine A2 speakers. I use a laptop USB out to a TurtleBeach USB to optical external soundcard that goes into the dac .......

Good point. On the MBP, temps will be around 65-68 degrees celcius with the Duet connected; around 40'ish with the Mac Mini. Guess I'll look into a dedicated Mini... .......

I used SMC fan control so that's how I saw the increase in temps. Every FireWire device I've seen connected to a Mac has increased heat. Go to an Apple store and you'll see. I've read in some forums t .......

Graham Slee makes nice phono pre-amps. I'm currently using a Graham Slee Gram Amp 2 SE paired with a Rega P3. The Gram Amp is SS. It requires a long break-in time but still sounds good out of the box. .......

I've always felt my speakers (Concertino Domus) were a little "slow". I think I've done the wrong thing with powering them with a tube integrated. Apparently Sonus Faber speakers have a sharp roll off .......

When I play a record, I can hear the sound coming from the cartridge. It is very noticeable on the highs (cymbals). Even if the turntable is playing a record with the amp off (the phono preamp is on), .......
