Not sure about your arm but some arms have a small set screw that holds the cueing mechanism. If your arm has that then loosen the set screw and raise the cueing mechanism a little. A little movement .......

From the description of the Rigid Float arm I have serious doubts about it's design. It just does not make any sense that it will just magically float to the right alignment on it's own. .......

Hi Andy, When I get some time I will give it a shot. It's pretty easy to try. If you build an enclosure for the TT try to make it as air tight as possible. Ideally with some sort of seal or weatherstr .......

If I was to build an airborne vibration enclosure for a TT I would use acoustic foam like 703 Owens Corning. I would think that more ridged materials would possibly trap or intensify bass frequencies. .......

Wow. Usually an arm will either have a post that goes through the arm board and a nut underneath to clamp it on or holes through the base to screw it to the arm board. I don't see either one in your p .......

If I was in New York I would give you a hand. If you follow the instructions that come with the arm it should not be too tough. Your arm board pivots so that should make alignment pretty easy. I don't .......

Thanks for the info on SRA Mike. Very usefull info. I double checked my set up and found it to be off quite a bit. After adjusting to 92 degrees I found that the cart I am using has better treble exte .......

The difference in noise floor is probably because the SMMC1 has alot lower output than your Ortofon. Hence you need to turn the gain up more to make up for it. Now your hearing the noise floor of your .......

Thats been my experience as well. Loading it down rolls off the treble and lowers output. Maybe the resistors were put in backwards? .......

I have no personal experience with either. Based on reputation and resale value I would keep the Kennwood. I would probably keep the Graham arm as well. .......

What platter mat are you using? If you are still using the original felt mat I suggest trying a Herbies Way Excellent mat. The felt mat softens the sound a bunch. I really am not sure why Linn still u .......

Sounds like you just need more gain. If the Cinemag has more gain than the step up in your phono stage then that should do the trick. .......

What your TT is sitting on can definitely effect the sound. IMO it is hard to get the most out of an analog rig unless you are hands on. Meaning able to play with VTF,VTA, Azimuth etc. Even if you hav .......

I use a solder pot and some flux. Melt some solder in the solder pot then dip the wire in flux. Dip the wire ends in the melted solder. Now you have pre tinned wires which makes them easier to solder .......

I find it interesting that the Dynavector Karat Diamond retailed for $1,000 in 1980. The newest version 17d3 is only $1,150. When i heard the 17d3 at a dealer I liked what I heard. I may have to give .......

You ask why not chase detail, soundstage, etc. after the cartridge? Because the information is allready lost. You can not add it back in later. The source is the beginning. It can only get more degrad .......

How resolving was the system they were a/b ing laquers to tape? It could have been smoothing over the details that are on the tape. What other cartridges did they try before they settled on the Shure? .......

If you get the drop counter weight I recommend also getting the Soundsmith Counter-intuitive. It will make adjusting VTA and azimuth a ton easier. It also makes fine adjustment possible. Sean ::: TOP .......

Myles, That sounds like a good idea. You would need a way to attach the feet to the bottom of the turntable as well so it does not slide around. I guess you could try to find some 3 inch long or longe .......

I plan on using some birdseye maple trim on the outside edges when I get some time. Also need to seal it with some poly-urethane as well. I also got a tip to round over the edges so the vibrations do .......

Sounds like he needs to turn the azimuth ring so the ears or outriggers or whatever you want to call them are not going to hit the cue lift. I suggest that he center the azimuth ring first then adjust .......

I just purchased and installed the pete riggle vta adjuster (vtaf.com) and it works quite well. The only difficulty is you have to drill a bigger hole in your armboard to accept it. I think the michel .......
