Sounds logical but a bad tube took out a power supply when I 1st got the amp. Its been re-designed by Don to make it stronger but I'm not sure I want use it for a tester. There is the temptation to do .......

I hear what you are saying and have conferred with Don. I have replaced the fuse on the socket and everything works fine now. this is part of the safety features on the amp. At this point I'm trying t .......

Do you have a schematic for the amp? No I do not. But don said not to use the tube. But I hate to throw $200 worth of tubes away. but its cheaper than a power supply I guess .......

My D. Sachs Kootenay 120 started having distortion on the right channel. It sounded like static. So I switched out #1 (right side) with #4 (left side). I did the same with # 2 & 3. Then when I turned .......

Recomended the KT-66. That was 12 or so yrs ago. I can only tell you of my experience with the VTA ST-70 and Bob's recommendations. Others May prefer the El34. It becomes a matter of tastes. ::: TOPI .......

I bought the ST-70 12 yrs ago to see what I was missing with tubes. It replaced a $4500 SS amp. Kept it for 10 yrs and now have Don Sachs Kootenay 120 which is the custom version of the Bob's ST-120. .......

I kinda agree with your take on monitors. I've never listened to them much so I don't know their capabilities for sure. I have some Infinity R-1 that I have set up. It was surprising that they sounded .......

I live 4 miles from Watkins Stereo. I've dealt with him & Bill Jr. since the 1980's. The gen 4's didn't earn a golden ear for no reason. And Watkins didn't grease any palms. That's why they have staye .......

Thanks for the suggestion. But I tried the Weber Copper Cap SS rectifier. Every aspect of the sound got smaller. My wifes 1st comments was that it had no body. I agree. It was not the right direction .......

SS rectifier was eye opening. It made the amp sound like the CJ MF2500 amp which I previously had. It is SS and gets great reviews and supposedly has a tube like sound. SS rectifier in the ST-70 made .......
