Posted by anton90125 on 2008-03-07, 00:26:05 (62.49.5.176)
From all the various postings it seems that virtually everyone prefers to ditch the brass jumper plate. The big question is still why should copper wire be better then a single brass plate. I know tha .......

In some biwired speakers, the manufactures supply brass jumper plates to effectively convert the speaker to a single wire system. It is generally considered "better" to replace the plates with a short .......

Cheers Al, Also the job of the inductor is to reduce the apparent capacitance of the cable. Would this put a limit to the size of the inductor? I know this might sound a silly question as I know the .......

Hello, I have the Townshend Isolda speaker cables which are similar to the goertz type cables. To stop catastrophic amplifier oscillations due to its high capacitance, it has a inductor/resistor netwo .......

One of the reason I am asking the question is there is massive argument going on in http://whathifi.com/forums/t/2040.aspx . This is rapidly going balistic. The are a few posters who are trowing physi .......

I am not sure if the is the right forum for this question but, What is the opinion of this forum of mains conditioners? Do the make a difference? If so what does that say of the internal power supply? .......

I have read conflicting an account of weather the crystal structure is relevant to a cables performance. Back in the middle 80’s I remember reading that the boundaries between crystals have various im .......

Thank you to Steve and Al. This is most enlightening! Its a shame that Max Townshend as to resort to pseudo science to sell a product which actually sounds very good and is highly rated in the UK. Any .......

Thank you Al for your reply. The Isolda has a network (at the amp end)to "deal" with this huge capacitance. It would be interesting in your and Steve's views at the claims made Max Townshend in his we .......

Thanks Steve again for reply. While I did a physics/computer studies degree- it was over 20 years ago. I am extremely rusty. Also the electronics covered was also limited (cable theory was not covered .......

Thanks for you reply, but I am a little confussed now. The Belden paper seems to imply that the impedance is higher at lower frequencies. Indeed 10000 ohms at 10 hz.For 20-20K between 8000-500 ohms (a .......

How important is the impedance of a speaker cable. The reason I ask this is that I got into a bit of an argument on another forum. I use Townshend Isolda cables. This cable gave me a black & white typ .......
