I have compared TJ Full Music mesh plates, Takatsukis and EAT300bs in my Wavac EC300b. TJ: very upfront, somewhat harsh treble, wooly bass. Fun but loose Takatsuki: very transparent, deep soundstage, .......

In the Wavac, the combination of driver tube and power tube makes all the difference. I have gone through lots of permutations and find the best combination to be cryoed Svetlana Winged C with Takatsu .......

I think neither is great: as to your point: I suggest you look at Srajan's review of the Zodiac Gold on six moons, where he found Sp/dif superior to USB for the wrong reasons. In any case my argument .......

I certainly hoped so when I got my Antelope Zodiac + Voltikus. Sadly even Igor Levin seems to need the 5v to handshake between computer and DAC. The problem seems to be endemic in most USB chip design .......

All USB is unless modified a perfect bridge for grunge from the computer into the DAC. That's per se a ludicrous design but can be cured by inserting a no-noise 5V feed. The impact on SQ compared to a .......

I upsample through Puremusic in hogmode, memoryplay to 352.8MHz into an Antelope Zodiac Gold +Voltikus. While I originally preferred integer mode, it doesn't allow for polarity inversion and actually .......

All true, I use a Densen Demagic disc to periodically degauss the system. works pretty well. There are demagnetisers for phono cartridges as well. if anything, the problem is even more acute there ::: .......

They work. I started with speaker chips and have since added chips on speaker cable and RCA as well as on the caps on my amp. also, the chips on fuses make an audible difference ( on Hifi-Tuning and F .......

There is no polarity inversion in integermode with pure music at the moment; if the dac doesn't have the feature, I don't see how you do it short of inverting the mains plug or speaker cables. ::: TOP .......

In a nutshell: digital sources in most cases need only an analogue attenuator but not a preamp; if you are into playing vinyl the answer depends on the phono stages electrical characteristics: usually .......

Fully agree with Mercman on the plug-in limitations in sample rate. My own experience with upsampling 96-192 as suggested by fmak is that it hazes rather than improves replay .......

Can I suggest you take the power amp off the conditioner and directly to mains to see what happens? Another idea might be to put the dac as far from the amp as practical I had similar issues, tried al .......

The Antelope is really designed as a dac+ analogue pre, it does away with the need for a pre and has one of the best clocks anywhere. There are Teddy Pardo and other PSUs should you not want to stomp .......

It gives you a full and an attenuated bass correction curve, so bass boost beyond your speakers' capabilities is not an issue. In any case i run a Wavac SET 10- watter and have not experienced clippin .......

I have added an IKMedia ARC plug-in to my purevinyl/puremusic server. As a result it seems that the phase inversion feature in Puremusic is disabled. Since a lot of CDs seem to be sloppy about phase, .......

which mac mini are you using? on my 2010 mach2music, I am using the 2nd USB port from the left and it makes a difference. Likewise you need the shortest possible USB cable with good shielding of the p .......
