I've used the EL38 in triode in a 2 stage SE amp. Mu is around 16 which makes it possible to even use a DHT driver. I ran that for a while with a 26 in front. Good sound. i preferred the rarer fat .......

I think the first thing I would do would be to take a lead from each power supply and connect it to the opposing monoblok. That way you could localise the problem in either the PSU or the signal circu .......

Best I've found are the angled plate versions, whatever the maker. But a better 6SN7 is a CV1135/CV6. That's very good indeed but you need 2 plus top caps (reversed from 2C22) .......

The taps are around 1K, my guess. No deeper. And yes, they are around 53 beats per minute. May be a coincidence. They vary in volume and come and go. I have another 6C4C preamp with exactly the same c .......

DC Link capacitors are made by Kemet, Vishay and others. Small to medium rectangular sizes and high voltages available. They usually start at around 500v and go up. No need to bypass with film caps - .......

Not a good idea to remove graphics on tubes, especially valuable ones. I've tried water and alcohol and regretted it. The graphics come off easily. Leave them alone!! .......

Segerstam is my go-to Sibelian. I have a box of the Danish recordings and I'm happy with those. Very idiomatic and drenched in Nordic Noir.... .......

Of course there are the recordings of Rachmaninov playing his own works. But the ones I love are his Schumann Carnaval and all the encores and short pieces. I adore his Bach transcriptions - heretical .......

I believe I did actually see him live once, which would have been late in his career. His tone was indeed softer and he played beautifully for course. Those early BN and other recordings, like with H .......

It may sound like a funny thing to say about a great sax player, but I could never get past Joe Henderson's tone. He has quite a hard sound - even like an oboe in the higher registers. For some reason .......

I had no knowledge of Jeanie Bryson until now. Interesting background - dad was Dizzy but he hushed it up since he was married. An attractive voice, quite light but can make the lyrics tell. Interesti .......
