I bought one in smoked last year, it arrived broken by UPS, he immediately replaced it. BTW smoked takes a little longer to get since it's a special order item. .......

VPI has the combined motor & flywheel as one unit, it fits in that curved opening. It also has a rim drive upgrade for it so that those of us who have older (pre v6) TNT's can use a rim drive. I loved .......

That would eliminate you ability to make the platter spin exactly true. There are also rubber rings between the platter and the spindle that should dampen resonances. .......

I had the acrylic & aluminum with lead TNT platter. Was talking to HW about getting a super platter and he recommended the new aluminum platter. It's definitely a livelier sound than acrylic platters. .......

I had the same symptom and I found the fuse/protection circuit was tripping. there is like two square white plastic holders on the back when I would press firmly on them the PLC would work again. - so .......

the easiest way is the pulley assembly. The mk1 is a T formation with the motor at one end (square motor housing). the mk2 is the separate triangle with a stand alone motor (round motor). look at Paul .......

Personally I believe that the switch from Irving to Teo is part of the confusion about the tracks. Irving produced them but Teo was given the task of actually making the record, Irving was gone right .......

I switched from a basic LP12 to a VPI 19mk3 and at the time I felt the decision was a no-brainer (1988 I think). The factors in my decision were the bass, the LP12 just didn't have the low end as well .......

Well the recommended tracking force for my cartridge is 1.6 - 1.75 gramms so in order to set it up as recommended you would need to be around 1.675 gramms. I don't even attempt that. but I do start at .......

The mk IV is the TNT platter (and bearing) on a HW 19 chasis. If you have a 1" thick platter it's a mk III. The price/value between the two is $800 which is significant part of the price of the table. .......

The best answer is of course - both. If you can only have one then it would be the platter. If your table is suspended then you should be able to level the plinth and then "tune" the springs to level .......

Yes, but they are manufacturing differences. They modified how the deck is attached to the pillar, I believe it is now non-removeable. I do not belive there are any "feature" differences. ::: TOPIC:: .......

I'm currently running a SME IV with no anti-skating and it is working wonderfully. There is some debate on this issue. the JMW series of arms don't even have anti-skate. Linear trackers don't either, .......

If you are using a SFG-2 then there is a 2X position on the scale and all readings are double. So you would look for a 0.80 measurement on the 2X line. That would mean you have VTF of 1.60g ::: TOPIC: .......

The scale pad is that black 3" square area the silver thingy is the calibration weight. From what the description states it looks to be 1/4" tall, which is pretty close to what a SFG-2 is when in use, .......

As a Grado owner maybe I might be able to assist. Grado cartridges are unshielded (unlike a lot of others), which allows them to pick up EM hum if it present (as in an unshielded tt motor) more easily .......
