I have a few of Perlemuter's LPs and CDs, love his Chopin, but I don't find the Nimbus SAM45 or the CDs attractive. The piano sound is very different from his earlier recordings, sounded hard and glar .......

Yes, Scheherazade is great fun to the audio fans. I think this has a lot to do with Rimsky-Korsakov's skillful orchestration to arrange instruments and bring out wonderful effects that are pleasant to .......

I don't know exactly what it is either, I can only guess that there is an insulation sheet that comes with the transducer plate to prevent electrical hazard if things go wrong. Sincere was a very old .......

The tech guy says that there are certain things that needs experience to bond the transducer plate to the tank, not impossible for end user but if something went wrong, the plate is easily to break ag .......

Condition of early commercial tapes are highly variable. The asked price is reasonable but if you are not familiar with these commercial tapes, don't expect too high on them. Tapes went thought differ .......

Schuricht's Bruckner 9 is a great one, he has the intrinsic solemnity like Furtwangler but does not go too far for it. Performance is very good and the sound is excellent. If you get a chance to pick .......

That's true. Thinner, dimensionally stable thread usually gave better sound, but you might have problem getting stable speed. Also if one uses a flywheel, start-up can be a problem. .......

I use an IKEA dish rack for years, and it served well. Cost around $28. The metal frame touches only the rim of the disk, not the grooved area. I think it's a design coincidentally great for us. .......

For vinyl issue of the sixth, if they wanted it to fit in one record, the 2nd movement has to be cut into 2 parts. Not the Eterna /Bongartz, they put each movement into a single side and made a 2 disc .......

I'd recommend to dry the LP after wash as the water droplet still contain small particles and when the water drys out, they adhere back to the vinyl surface. But I keep a IKEA dish rack handy around m .......

I have a pair of Stax driven by its tube headphone amp, I enjoy listening to it no less than the speaker system. Surface noise can get louder and usually we don't get as much big soundstage and depth .......

US Angels are remastered by Capitol and pressed in the US. Some of the Angels can be good, keep an eye on those which have gold STEREO on cover, those are the early ones. UK reissues sometimes suffer .......

I am now mostly giving up on the HMV/Melodiya. If HMV used the mother tape and press it without remastering, I will certainly glad to go for them as the English pressing is usually better than the Rus .......

I came across an album with evident post-echo today. Track 1 , 3 and 5 of side B of the Prokofiev Piano Concertos by Samson Francois. Since the echo comes before a full revolution, I think it's a tape .......
