Your thinking about doing exactly what I did. I had a SF Line 1se and went to the PCA2. I think you will find the PCA2 to be very quiet, and while it still has all the features of the SF it is more us .......

Im not sure of the exact age of the 7.0 PS pre. I dont think its more than 10 years but not sure. If you like the GCA amp, why not liquidate the SF line 1 and GCA for a GCC, control amp. That would pr .......

A Sonic Frontiers Line 1 would be in that range. Had one for several years. Cool hockey puck remote that will do just about anything. In a ss pre I like my PS Audio PCA2 a lot. Wide sound stage and go .......

I have found the fridge to be a good break in tool for a new power cord. That big white thing in your kitchen draws a bunch more current than a cdp, dac, or preamp.....24 hours on a cord and Id say it .......

If the BAT is balanced you might try an Audire Forte. The biggest 125 wpc you will find and it sounds very nice. Goes with my Sonic Frontier Line1 real well. .......

Have an adaptor thats goes from IEC plug to standard three prong grounded plug. Place the pc inline with the fridge power cord and in about 24 hours it will be cooked in nicely. .......

Julius makes a mosfet version of the Forte. I havent heard the Diffet but the Forte will sound better than either the Adcom or Hafler. You should be able to pick up the combo for quite a bit less than .......

The Line 1se is also a good choice. Same tube compliment as the Line2 but in one chassis. All the same in`s and out`s as the Line2. A very versital good sounding pre amp. .......

George, The HT3`s are a nice looking speaker. Kind of a Wilsonisque design from the looks of it, but I doubt those heavy cones are faster than a ribbon. At least they do have a ribbon tweet. ::: TOPIC .......

Recently picked up an Audire Forte off ebay. This amp powers my rm40s im a big room to amazing levels and sounds good doing it. Plug it in and leave it on like a fridge and you have good sound anytime .......

The Forte is definitely an overachiever, as are all of Julius` amps. Available in both bipolar and mosfet versions. Has very nearly the power supply of the 200watt Tennendo, its quite a bit more power .......

The RM40s are much better in every way. That said, the RM40s are not the easiest speakers to set up properly. I think most of the people that dont like them havent heard them properly set up. The VR4j .......

The Forte uses two 500 volt iron core type trannies. Not sure how to tell if mosfet from bipolar. I have a mosfet version, my brother has the bipolar version. Great amp that puts out closer to 175wpc .......

I can tell you the 40s dont really need all that many watts. But they sure want something with some amperage. Ive been through a number of amps on my 40s and have settled on an amp thats only rated at .......

Its my understanding that Julius never actually sold his ribbon speakers. He sold the rights to build them and they were sold under the name Yankee ribbons. I would imagine a big SS would be the way t .......

The RM40 seemed to be better in almost every regard. I could hear much further into the music with the VMPS. Its the ribbon mid range that makes the difference. .......

You might want to give a listen to VMPS RM40s if you have a good sized room. I had a pair of VR4-jr`s in my home and feel the RM40s are much better for the money. .......
